Didn't go to sleep till after midnight. Woke up at 4:15am. Cleaned the kitchen. Got out a bunch of soda bottles I have been saving and from friends. Put a 1/4 cup of bleach in one and two squirts of dish soap, shook well and then filled about 1/2 up. This I poured into 4 bottles equally, shook each one and poured into 4 more bottled, kept repeating until 65 bottles were done.

Next step, let them sit for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse well and let air dry. Eating chili with lots of crackers and cheese before I start rinsing. It is a boring boring job. After they are dry, in 3-4 days, will fill with sugar, oatmeal, cornmeal, dried beans, rice. Flour sucks as it takes forever to fill, just squeeze out. Half of these bottles will be filled with tap water plus one drop of bleach and stored away.

For flour, I put 8 cups in paper lunch sacks, fold over once and put in a vacuum seal bag like Food Saver, vacuum and seal, place in freezer for a week and then store for 5-10 years in a cool dry place. Putting the flour in the paper sacks, keeps the flour dust from gunking up the edges of the bag and thus keeping the bags from sealing properly.

For salt, baking soda, and corn starch I fill clean dry sports drink bottles. All three last indefinitely.

I only buy sugar, flour, powdered sugar and oats in 50lb bags at Costco. You save money buying bulk but ya gotta have a way to store it!
