Breaking my soda habit was like getting off the most addictive drug known to man, I dunno crack, heroin - what ever is the hardest that was me giving up soda.
This is really hard - really really hard ok, stay strong. And know this step is a MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!!
Quoting: Little bird Yes this has been and addiction for me since HS and I am in my 50's. Every diet works and then I gain back because I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the stuff!!!!!
This is how I should think of it---
Quoting: WhiteAngel I WANT TO PROMISE YOU SOMETHING OK - YOU WILL BREAK THE HABIT. THE FIRST KICK IS THE HARDEST. And you might fall off the wagon again but once you kick that addiction, that hard addiction once you can do it again.
Later after you break the habit you think of Coke as an alcoholic beverage - a strong one - you can have one like a treat when you go out but don't bring it in your house.
That is my rule now.
I don't bring it in my house, but allow myself to have it when I am out - sitting in a place, being waited on - not drive through.
Get some fresh ginger - cut it up - boil it about 1/2 cup chopped to big pot of water - let it cool some, mix in some honey refrigerate it. I end up with 2 Q. Pour yourself a big glass and squeeze a lemon in it - its a strong/good for you - keep your mind off soda beverage. The ginger will give you the taste kick you miss from Coke.
You will also feel better because its not just that it tastes good to us - that corn syrup is killing us softly causing all that joint and body pain.
This is another thing about going on a detox diet which is what doing no carbs is like, its an elimination diet. Once you eliminate hard for a while and add things back you see what hurts you and once you have had your ass kicked few times and your eyes opened to how bad stuff you put in your mouth can actually hurt you - you will find you really don't want it anymore.
Its an amazing process. Trust me you will surprise yourself.
