2 injured, no damage as powerful but deep earthquake strikes off Japan

TOKYO – A powerful earthquake struck near remote Japanese islands and shook most of the country Saturday evening, but it occurred well beneath the earth’s surface and did not trigger a tsunami warning. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and there were no reports of major damage.

The magnitude-8.5 offshore quake struck off the Ogasawara islands at a depth of 590 kilometres, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 7.8 and a depth of 678 kilometres.

This was on the local news a bit back. Lots of fisherman say they are finding it growing on fish. WTF? Stuff doesn't just grow on fish, they are always moving. It's not like when barnacles grow on whales.

Fukushima is one of the greatest conspiracies of modern times. They refrain to give information because the consequences and the damages are overwhelming, this is the worst disaster happened to the world since Chernobyl. And the damage is far more deep than reported. Apparently there is a Ban on major News Channels, and Governments to not filter out information about Fukushima. But as you said, related-occurrences will haunt them for several years from now. Pacific Ocean is becoming the new "Dead Sea" and the main blame is this disaster.

This is not the typical Earthquake for them.
This was deep as hell. (I'm still wondering how they calculate the depth) Meaning the waves of the earthquake behave differently. More like being in a cruise. So people not exactly scared but surprised, because for many of them this type of earthquake was unprecedented. Of course in tall buildings it will feel a little stronger. But on the street is like the entire city is moving at once, in a very unanimous fashion...
