Watching to 5pm news. It's still growing, still close to town, but they have a handle on it. Yet they didn't give a percentage on what's cataned. The winds look to whip up again tonight. Quoting: deanoZXT A drone time lapse of it last night. From the air you can see how close it is to town, not just the subdivisions. FRIGHTING. How close is this to you deano? Well it's on the East slopes of the Cascades Mt. range. But as the crow flies it's about 150 miles directly east of Seattle along Interstate 90. But it's so close to a little city. Also, fire season is from like August to October here. Not late June. And you know in the Seattle area, we've been in the 80s daily going on 4 weeks now. With no rain. Just a random thunderstorm shower now and then... yup...been over 100 for 3 days here... its like living in Jamaica..... |

RAINIER ERUPTED? Wow, terrifying! Is the next major volcanic eruption in the United States just around the corner? Mount St. Helens and the Yellowstone supervolcano get most of the attention, but many geologists are actually far more concerned about the potential danger that Mt. Rainier poses. It hasbeen called a “time bomb“, “the most dangerous mountain in the United States” and “one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world” due to its proximity to major population centers. Scientists tell us that it is a matter of if, not when, the next eruption will happen, and even a minor eruption could result in tens of thousands of Americans being literally buried alive in super-heated mud. So what would a full-blown eruption do? It would potentially cause death and destruction on a scale that is almost unimaginable. [link to washingtonweeklynews.com] |

Quoting: CuriousSeeker Helium is LEAKING from massive earthquake fault in LA raising fears 'big one' could be more devastating than thought [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Thread: Helium is LEAKING from massive earthquake fault in LA raising fears 'big one' could be more devastating than thought Compared to the previous assessment issued in 2008, UCERF2, the estimated rate of earthquakes around magnitude 6.7, the size of the destructive 1994 Northridge earthquake, has gone down by about 30 percent. The expected frequency of such events statewide has dropped from an average of one per 4.8 years to about one per 6.3 years. However, in the new study, the estimate for the likelihood that California will experience a magnitude 8 or larger earthquake in the next 30 years has increased from about 4.7% for UCERF2 to about 7.0% for UCERF3. The M 7.8 San Francisco earthquake of 19O6 struck the coast at 5.12 am on 18 April 18. Devastating fires lasting several days broke out in the city. As a result about 3,OOO people died and over 8O percent of San Francisco was destroyed. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
