My "prepping" goal this summer was to plant a garden. Wow, tthat turned out to be a lot more difficult to get started than I thought. Our soil was too sandy here in FL so I had to get all kind of soil and then I had to get wooden planks to separate it from the yard. It's only 4 feet by 4 feet. We planted corn, beans and something else. But only the corn came up. It;s about 2 feet high now. Need to plant something else but its getting a bit late. Oh yeah, I put a tomato plant and an aloe plant in there that I purchased. But still need to add something else. I saw a cool video about growing 100 pounds of potatoes in a trash can. Hmmm...lots stuff left to do.

I tried the potatoes in a sack, fail! Later learned you have to use long season taters like russet. 100 lbs won't happen but 60 is reasonable.

Compost your leaves and grass clippings this fall and add that to your garden. With sand you need lots and lots of compost to make it soil. It is said it takes 3 years to get "good" soil. Before that it is only dirt.

Thus the reason I say I am older than soil but younger than dirt
