It's 60,000 h.u. organic cayenne. And yes, she eats it straight and tried to snort it for the migraines. Quoting: Gomez She's more woman than I am! I can't even order anything beyond the medium wings at Buffalo Wild Wings..lol. Sorry it didn't help her migraines. Sure would be nice if they'd get off their duffs and find out what causes them to begin with instead of just shrugging them off as a 'womans complaint'. I am no expert, this is merely my opinion based on a lot of reading and observations. I could be way off base, but I'll throw this out there none the less. I believe some migraines are caused by increased blood flow to the brain. This is similar in concept to brain freeze. When you consume cold things your blood vessels constrict. Your body recognizes this and sends increased blood flow to the area constricted. This new blood flow warms up the vessel and it expands. This expansion is what causes the 'brain freeze' or rather short term, acute headache. With this in mind there's a few things to think about and perhaps may lead to lifestyle changes. Caffeine and nicotine are some of the most commonly used substances. Both of these substances constrict blood vessels. There are other substances that can do this too but for this explanation I'll stick to caffeine and nicotine. With continued use of either substance your body will begin to adapt. Your body will keep your blood vessels from constricting when in the presence of these substances. Once the equilibrium is found, your body's status quo is good and you have no problems. Now, take one or both of these substances away or dramatically reduce intake and your body will take time to adapt again. In the meantime, since you no longer intake substances that restrict blood flow your vessels expand more than normal and you now have increased blood flow. Thus migraines ensue. Ever notice how all migraine OTC pills contain caffeine? Thanks Sol. I've been getting migraines for over 20 years. They run in my family. Research has shown this is generally the case. I've eliminated all the triggers known and some that I found are triggers only for me. (My menu is absolutely dismal in terms of variety) I don't drink anything with caffeine. I make sure my ph is adjusted and my gut flora is balanced. In short, I've taken all the precautions they've recommended and try every new remedy that comes down the pike. It doesn't help that I'm a redhead either. We're more susceptible to pain and feel it more strongly than others. Short of lopping off my head, I'll just have to keep on keeping on. Too tired after canning and then putting up a few other things for later use. Quoting: WhiteAngel My hubby can be such a sweetie. He was watching me lift jars out of boiling water with a jar lifter and after I did the second one, he said "here, let me help you." I laughed and said "Am I making you nervous?" "Yes babe, you have tiny hands and you can barely see over the pot (yes I can)." When I am ticked at him, he does something like that and my heart melts. AND when I am still ticked!!!! It doesn't help that I'm a redhead either. We're more susceptible to pain and feel it more strongly than others. Short of lopping off my head, I'll just have to keep on keeping on. I am sorry to hear that. I, apparently, got lucky. My mother, father and brother all suffer from bad migraines. Some get so bad they'll lock themselves in a dark room for hours and for one of them it can be days. I've never had much more than a headache from dehydration once in a blue-moon. I am very grateful for that. Their triggers are cheese and chocolate (which I consider condiments...if cheese don't fix it, chocolate will, if that don't then bacon will or it's not food). In other words...life wouldn't be worth living without these items in my life. :) Seems you've tried everything though. Perhaps yours are caused by the opposite? Everyone's chemical makeup is different. Me, for example, react very differently to most 'drugs' than most. The gist is uppers bring me down and downers bring me up...I might be a little ADHD if I chose to label it... That said, maybe try to do the opposite of what you have been doing. If what you've tried hasn't worked, try something else. Next time it happens chug down a big cup of strong black coffee and see what happens. There's always cannabis too...for some it has been a miracle plant, not only for migraines but many other ailments. You'll certainly have to try a few different strains before you find one that might help, and if you don't...well, you're high, you won't care...
