I was always an unusual girl. My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean... And if I said I didn't plan for it to turn out this way I'd be lying...
Because I was born to be the other woman. Who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone. Who had nothing, who wanted everything, with a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it,and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me.

Ok here is my 10 cents worth about going on a cruise...
Here is some information about what to consider in choosing a cruise:
I have been on 4 different cruises.
The first was an over night 2 day from Los Angeles (San Pedro) to Catalina.
The second was 3 days from San Pedro to Encinsada, Mx.
The third was 15 days from Santiago, Chile to Valpariso to Ushuaia, then to Antarctica (3 days), Falklin Islands, and to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The fourth was 15 days from Fairbanks to Dinali Park by train then down to Anchorage.
Then by train to Seward and on to Vancover.
If this is your first cruise I would pick a 2 or 3 day that is closest to you so that it is not overwhelming

The cruise line that I used - Holland America's fleet divided into five classes-
the Statendam ships were kept to a more modest size, ranging from 1,258 to 1,350 passengers:

What a wonderful amount of info.

waty

I won't have a choice in picking and choosing. This is all on my father-in-law. He is OCD and will plan it down to the tiniest of details. All we have to do is go. It will be the Caribbean but how long or anything else, unknown at this time. Personally, would rather cruise to Fiji, bucket list, because of the tropical birds but the Caribbean has plenty also. This will be 1st of April (Spring break) or 1st of June after school is out and part of my daughter's graduation gift from him to her.

It will be interesting to see if this even happens and then trying to lose a fast 50 lbs so I won't feel so horribly self-conscious.

Sorry about not getting back after asking about the cruise to the Caribbeans, life happened....

Father-in-law wants to take the family on a cruise during Spring Break or just after school is out. I swore I would never ever get on one of those things but if this goes forward, well, I can't be the buzz-kill for everyone else.

Since like Simple, I have this fear of the ocean (though I want to see the beach - it is on the bucket list), a cruise hasn't been something I ever put much thought into. Haven't been on a plane since before 911, but the kiddos both have always wanted to get on one, this would be a trip of "white-knuckles" for me!!!

Really just wondered what the cruise would be like in general. The most I know about it is "The Love Boat", like someone else mentioned, lots of lots of people squished together in a small area and lots of lots of sickness

If I was on a cruse, I'd just park my butt at the bar closest to the buffet with a view. Load up on shrimp. But not every day. You can get sick from shrimp. I think you get iodine posing if you have like a pound a day for a couple days. I'd for sure stay out of the pool. I'd hate to be the one person that drowns in the pool in the middle of the ocean. If they have gambling, I'd hit up the craps table now and then. If your cabin has a balcony, never go out on it. Too many people just vanish. The aliens I tell you.

I don't know if this has a place in this thread, but we were returning home a little while ago and saw 9 dead squirrels on a short stretch of our road. Some were up on lawns, in cut fields, two on the road, etc. We are concerned enough that we called the local forest ranger service and they are will be on the look-out throughout the parks to see if this aberration is a one-off.

The other bizarre thing about this is the field hawks, crows, and other scavenger birds are not retrieving the bodies.

Very disconcerting.

That's very weird. Where is this?
 Quoting: Vegainzz

South central Indiana, quite a rural area. We're going out later to talk to some of the farmers. Talked to two local hunters also. One of them noticed the dead squirrels earlier and said he is heading out to a game preserve later on to observe because he has an uneasy feeling about this. The guy has been hunting for almost 30 years.
 Quoting: -Haun-

I am in southeast Indiana. We too have noticed dead animals...squirrels and moles mostly. The odd thing is that the local cats are also coming up 'missing'.

Almost everyone around here has cats that keep the barns, outer structures, fields, and homes free of smaller animals that are searching for somewhere in which to create a nest, especially for the winter.

One of the Amish farmers recently got four new cats for his barns because his had gone missing. This was about three weeks ago. Since this area is surrounded by both state and federal forests we all thought that they either got lost or found another home [we always end up eventually feeding each other's cats at one time or another]. I will check around tonight and see if anyone else is missing cats.

I can see one of the dead squirrels in the street at the bottom of our driveway. So far, none of the scavenger birds have taken it and its not due to traffic because hours can go by before a car or truck passes this way.

The bobcat and coyote populations are growing in Indiana but those animals take their kill with them and they are very skittish meaning they would not come so close to human habitation when they have forest parks to roam in.

Thanks for the added info, Jazzy. We are going to keep a closer eye on what's happening in our own backyards.

9/22/2015 — Scientists ‘discover’ that seismic pressure transfers up to 1,000km — Causing other earthquakes

"Scientists have now “discovered” something that I have been telling (and showing) my viewers / readers for the past several years.

Seismic pressure caused by large earthquake activity is causing other earthquakes up to 1,000km away.

These new findings, made by Italian scientists, indicate seismic pressure is causing “particles” in the Earth’s crust to vibrate (resonate) on a certain frequency which induces particulate matter to slip along far adjacent fault zones.

In other words, pressure from a large earthquake can cause vibration on layers of the crust several hundred to over a 1,000km away from the original earthquake epicenter."

EQUINOX AURORA WATCH: For reasons researchers don't fully understand, auroras love equinoxes. At this time of year even a gentle gust of solar wind can spark a bright display.

Tomorrow, Sept.23rd, is the northern autumnal equinox. Perfect timing: a CME is expected to deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field on Sept. 23rd. The impact will probably be weak, but on the first night of autumn, weak may be strong enough. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for equinox auroras.
