...Magnitude 3.5 Region SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Date time 2015-10-17 02:31:59.9 UTC Location 34.12 N ; 116.91 W Depth 7 km Macroseismic Intensity IV Effects: Largely Observed [ link to m.emsc.eu] Quoting: Simple27 Magnitude 2.7 Region NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Date time 2015-10-17 02:32:38.0 UTC Location 39.02 N ; 122.59 W Depth 1 km [ link to m.emsc.eu] Quoting: Simple27 2.7 6km E of Clearlake Oaks, California 2015-10-17 02: 32:38 UTC 0.4 km 3.5 14km S of Big Bear Lake, California 2015-10-17 02: 31:59 UTC 7.4 km Only a minute apart. Notice the southern quake triggered the northern one. For those who have watched the movie San Andreas, this effect is mentioned. The large one in LA triggered San Fran. Just something we should all tuck away in the back of our brains for when the big one does happen. It will trigger others. Also mentioned in the movie - something we all know but is seldom said - when a big quake happens it causes world wide quaking to occur. A falsehood, to my knowledge, that the east coast would feel the 9.5 on the west coast. The reason it is wrong?? The Rocky Mountains - they would keep the wave from traveling that far - at least from everything I have read on this. Quoting: WhiteAngel I hope we never have to find out... :\ Was it much better on the big screen? Quoting: Simple27 You bet!!! Dimples are great too. lol We are 100 years past due for a big quake in CA. Remember, not "if" but "when".
