I couldn't unpack because the place is too dirty, so tomorrow I go to the store and get what I need and get back and start cleaning. It's a good place, though, and love being in the forest. Quoting: Kirablue42 Cool! You got a place in the woods ? Yup. It's near some hiking trails, has a creek close by and the Illinois river is walking distance. The dogs already love it, andI know I will when I get this place cleaned up. Keeping prayersi said for the upcoming ultrasound that it goes well. I don't think ice chips would hurt to sip on? |

More in the link: [link to www.kwch.com] _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OIL DRILLING POSES THREAT TO AREA'S QUALITY OF LIFE Drilling for oil in Rio Rancho? Guest column Eleanor Bravo weighs in on this threat... When I learned an Oklahoma-based company had secured a permit for oil exploration near Rio Rancho, I was shocked. As global climate change intensifies, the last thing we should be doing is expanding oil and gas extraction; rather, we should make a rapid shift away from fossil fuels in favor of a 100 percent renewable energy future. It would be unconscionable to expose our region to the significant threats to quality of life, water and air quality, and public health in the interest of filling the coffers of a few out-of-state speculators. Interesting points in article: *Fracking destroys millions of gallons of fresh water by mixing it with sand and some combination of hundreds of chemicals and blasts this concoction underground to shock oil (or gas) out of rock deposits. *Such water-wasting methods will deplete our aquifiers. *Fracking has already caused extensive pollution to groundwater and waterways in New Mexico and throughout the country. *Increased rate of birth defects, lower birth rates, and higher rates of asthma if you live near a gas or oil well. Good Article. Check it out in link below: [link to www.rrobserver.com] ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ GOOD COMMENT FROM THIS ARTICLE: What drilling for oil in Rio Rancho will mostly accomplish is to depress the already stagnant housing market. How many people want to move to a place where they may soon be surrounded by oil wells? Young people are not likely to want to move here given the many housing opportunities in the metro area, especially those with children who are the most vulnerable to the degradation caused by drilling. Retirees are not likely to want to spend their latter years and their money in a place that might threaten their health. As to "guarantees" an Oklahoma company might give: BP is a lot bigger, more experienced company, and look what happened in the Gulf of Mexico. Contaminate our aquifer by drilling through it, and you can kiss Rio Rancho good-bye. There simply is no other source of water, none, zero, zilch. If drilling for oil around Rio Rancho is allowed, watch the value of your home go down the tubes. :sw_bump: BUMP!!! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 70892393 United States 12/02/2015 10:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THE SAD TIMES WE LIVE IN... Governor orders study on injection well alternatives She wants to find a way to recycle the water Geological Survey show more earthquakes in Oklahoma than any other place in the world. More than 5,000 earthquakes have been recorded this year. On Tuesday, Governor Mary Fallin announced that she formed a fact-finding group to look into underground disposal wells, which is now linked to the increase in earthquakes. The Water for 2060 Produced Water Working Group will try to finds ways to recycle or reuse the water instead of injecting it into the underground wells. More in the link below: [link to www.krmg.com] SPOT-ON COMMENT: Fact finding? Its a bit late for that. You can't treat this water and reuse it for agriculture! Most of it is toxic with heavy metals and God knows what else. The article does show, over 44, BILLION gallons of water have been injected into the ground in 2014 alone, the damage is done, and probably permanent. It is obvious to me, this woman is all for business, even at the cost of destroying the state she was elected to protect! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Opening appropriate and environmentally responsible avenues for beneficial use of reclaimed produced water will require coordination across industry sectors and regulatory agencies,” said Fallin, who made the announcement during the 36th annual Oklahoma Governor’s Water Conference and Research Symposium underway in Norman. “In addition to the opportunities to save fresh water by reusing and recycling oil- and gas-produced water, I’m equally interested in looking at alternatives to deep well disposal of this resource,” Fallin said. “What a win-win for all if we can turn wasted water into a useful resource, while at the same time reducing seismic activity caused by deep well injection.” Underground injection wells have been linked to recent earthquakes in Oklahoma, leading the state Corporation Commission to reduce disposal volumes in certain areas. On Monday, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 3:49 a.m. west-southwest of Medford in Grant County. Eight earthquakes of magnitude 4.2 or greater have occurred in that area this year. Oklahoma has had more than 600 earthquakes of 3.0 magnitude or greater in 2015, easily a record. Another article to the announcement from Governor Fallin, check out the link below: [link to www.tulsaworld.com] I MUST SAY SHE HAS MADE SO MANY PEOPLE FEEL SAFE AND SECURE IN THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA... :sw_tailsmack: TICK-TOCK...TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!! :( SCARY TIMES COMMENTS FROM THE ARTICLE: "Cheaper just to hire Pa. officials to spend a week here and show us how they managed to do it. It will take more than a day sense our folks seem rather dense and slow to understand new concepts." "Is Failin really that stupid? Nearly all produced water from O & G ops is saltwater. Why does she think they pay so much to inject it thousands of feet down into sealed (supposedly) zones or strata. And all the stuff used in fracing is heavily contaminated with chemicals and compounds that the industry doesn't have to reveal because they were exempted from the Clean Water Act under Geo W! This is for delay and cover because there is no way you can irrigate anything with poison!!" "Whats the hurry Gov. Mary(no back bone)Fallin.....you are just 4 years late listening to "we the people" of Oklahoma. Only when a light was shined on the oil and gas companies, and earthquakes might damage Cushing, did you do anything...slowly...I might add." "Translation: how can I do nothing and keep big oil happy, but make make everyone else think I'm doing something." |

Looks like they are going to make another attempt at drilling into the mantle. They picked a bad area to drill for it in my opinion, went to a very active spot. [link to www.express.co.uk] WARNING: Scientists could spark MEGAQUAKE as they drill below Earth's crust for first time Scientists from Cardiff University are behind the mission, which hopes to bring the first ever samples of mantle - the rocky substance that makes up most of our planet between the crust and core - back to the surface to be studied. |
