Anonymous Coward User ID: 70980000 United States 05/07/2016 07:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mt. St. Helens to erupt soon? On May 18, 1980, a major volcanic eruption occurred at Mount St. Helens, a volcano located in the state of Washington, United States. The eruption (a VEI 5 event) was the only significant volcanic eruption to occur in the contiguous 48 U.S. states since the 1915 eruption of Lassen Peak in California.[1] The eruption was preceded by a two-month series of earthquakes and steam-venting episodes, caused by an injection of magma at shallow depth below the volcano that created a huge bulge and a fracture system on the mountain's north slope. [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Although there are no signs of an imminent eruption, the volcano is recharging, scientists say. Mount St. Helens is in Washington state, 95 miles south of Seattle and about 55 miles northeast of Portland, OR. The earthquakes have been measured at a magnitude of 0.5 or less and the largest was at 1.3. They've been measured about 1.2 to four miles underneath the surface. With such small magnitudes and such depths, you wouldn't be able to feel the earthquakes on the surface. But it's not the magnitude that has gotten scientists attention -- it's the frequency. [link to www.cnn.com] Come on...Mt. St. Helens is about to erupt again. Can we say 5/18/2016 anyone? Give or take a few days? |

The long dark plasma filament with the trailing portions still coming over the limb and jumping around is set up to snap today. The coronal hole facing us right now spewed out and produced a coronal stream that resulted in an M3 slap. Venus is presenting herself on the far right side of the sun and is appearing as a brilliant ball of light while Mercury slowly slips from significance. Expect very turbulent weather for tomorrow late afternoon and evening, severe anomalies are going to present challenges for some populations. Eyes open. No fear.
