You're right, she has to find her own will. However, she might simply feel miserable and therefore is acting accordingly stubborn and negative. She might need something positive to bring that will forth. I love the pictures/sign idea. Anything she can see and be surrounded by to cheer her spirits and remind her why it's important to fight to get stronger.
