I spent the day at a friend's yesterday. His internet wasn't working and according to ATT could not be fixed for a day or two. His daughter, who is 7, could not grasp the concept of not having any internet. She kept coming in saying "Can I watch _____ on Netflix?", "Can I play my computer game", etc. etc. Every time, we would try to explain to her why she couldn't do any of those things. Granted, the internet and how it works isn't an easy concept for a kid to grasp, but I think the bigger obstacle was that she's never NOT had it, so the idea of it not being available, not being able to do all these things she wanted to do at a moment's notice, was impossible for her to imagine. She'd never had this happen before. I don't think she ever conceived it's something that can work or not work, to her it "just is", if that makes sense. I found the whole thing rather interesting! Of course, I chimed in with "This is what our entire childhood was like", and, "when we were your age, we had to read books and play outside". lol.

Seriously! Lol, I didn't have internet as a child. Shit, my parents didn't own a computer until AFTER I had graduated high school.

My mini would lose her mind haha! It's a good punishment tool though. wink
