The maps from the USGS-led USA National Phenology Network show spring has begun three weeks early in some places.

Across the southern Great Plains and Southeast Atlantic Coast, spring is well underway – and in Washington, DC, it came 22 days early.

Coastal California, southern Nevada, southeastern Colorado, central Kansas, Missouri, southern Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are now starting to experience warmer temperatures as well.

And, West Virginia and Virginia are feeling the effects as well, while Philly and Indianapolis will likely be hit soon.

I'm wondering what size quake he's predicting for NZ. That 6.9 today was super deep. That certainly feels like a set up for another big(ger)event. I take it that video implies NZ is the place to watch for that?

Sounds good! It's been nice in my neck of the woods for days (60's-70's). The shift if happening now though. A stiff, cool breeze and the temp is dropping. Tonight down to freezing or so, tomorrow only 43. That will be the coolest it's been here in weeks.

68 here tomorrow but 44 on sunday, Sunday will be a good day to make beef jerky on the smoker.
