This is just amazing. There are some theories out there as to why but the conclusions are keep watching that area. Es muy fragile.

There is everything out there from the biblical persuasion to extra-mantle sensitivity to coronal hole mass ejections and flaring. Extra-mantle sensitivity suggests nearest fractures or even major faults are releasing pressure like a tea kettle with the coronal activity being the fire under the pot.

Its all about energy waves and fields pinging off each other in a giant cosmic orchestrated production. SO has touched on this in the last couple of weeks without the added language.

If you pass something as innocuous as a ping pong ball through a high energy field very likely the ball will implode. This is an argument for earth's core not being as dense as originally thought.

On the other hand, Idaho's geology consists of layers of sedimentary rock because it used to be an ocean floor so it is thought to be unstable because of this: its layers of rock, sediment, and sand. This is the primary reason why geologists fought so hard to keep fracking out of Idaho.

No one has one reasonable explanation as to why so many EQs are springing up at this moment in time, but I'm going with pressure release from an unstable area connected or near a major fault line either known or unknown. This is why the proffered explanations end with "keep an eye on the area".

Thanks Haun. I agree with your thoughts. Obviously it's not just aftershocks from the 5.3, so we know there is more going on.

You're welcome. Wish I had a definitive answer for you. I do know this, if I lived in that region I would have a permanent go-bag for every family member and any pets. Its unstable to begin with and there's probably more pressure to come.

The area has now been hot-wired for every possible kind of geological event monitoring devices that are scattered around in strategic locations. A lot of scientists are watching, and just as importantly listening, and of course....waiting.

Edit: Take a look at a geological survey map, if anyone hasn't already, and see how close these clusters are to Yellowstone.

Lots of known volcanoes, yep. I'm leaving the door open for other possibilities.

PS The gov't. of Idaho has issued three more fracking permissions to oil companies since earlier this year. How can we be so stupid?

Yeah, I get that...well, sort of, but in the end excessive greed always with no exceptions ends up being excessively stupid. Its just like lust for power. Absolutely none of it matters when you're on your deathbed and about to draw your last breath. Does it matter if you die on cotton sheets versus silk sheets? Anyway, I digress. Sorry.

You're preaching to the choir. Anymore, everyone (especially those in power) think in the immediate and not for the long-term. People can only see what's in front of their face and not the big picture. Frustrating as hell.

I just searched Switzerland EQs for the past 7 days, as it seems like there have been more than normal lately, although they are always really small.

For what it's worth, there were 25 total EQ's there in all of September last year. This year so far in September there have been 17, so it appears there has been a bit of an uptick this month. What does this mean? I have no idea. Likely nothing :)

Cold front came in last night! Temps in low 50's today and we already have 6 tenths in the rain gauge! Calling for 5 to 10 inches of snow in the passes! Hopefully enough to knock down these fires! Over a million acres has burned so far! Woohoo!

They heat magnets 100,000 hotter than the center of the sun and cool others to below absolute zero, colder than space. If they had an accident the entire world would know about it.

I'm not entirely saying that they didn't have an impact on that region because of the immense caverns so far below the earth that they dug to provide the space necessary for all of the experimental stations and the LHC. I know they said they were expanding so I don't know if they're moving even more earth to do this. That might be even more of a landscape that they should not be meddling in, I don't know.

Simple, there's a discussion of this in that vid I sent you about cosmic DNA re the super heating and super cooling of magnets. I don't know if you got to it yet.
