i believe the activity there, and in Puerto Rico, Oklahoma and Alaska, are all linked to Yellowstone

i THINK it's an effect of the mantle plume pushing up with immense pressure under the north american crust, and this is having the odd effect of cushioning the pnw and west coast from large EQS, for NOW!

my feeling is the plot of the 2012 movie is how everything will play out

the cushioning effect CANNOT last, because of the changes going on elsewhere on the ROF. eventually, the pressure will become too great, and the west coast will be HAMMERED by a huge quake, which will then trigger the already highly unstable Yellowstone. just like the plot of the movie. that is the only similarity though. the CRUST won't move, the whole sodding planet will!

when supervolcanoes blow, they blow with the force of 1000 hiroshima sized nukes per SECOND, and every action has an equal and opposite reaction

it will act like a rocket, and will tip the planet over onto a new equilibrium, and if you check out the Goce data, it looks like a 90 degree pole shift, with the antarctic and arctic's new positions being on or close to the equator. the core is ALREADY forming the new equator, almost as if it KNOWS what's coming! Huge weights are shifting, at very great depths within our planet. Goce PROVES that!

the usa, china india/asia and large parts of russia, are going under the waves, imho, mostly, permanently.(India maybe even going into the MANTLE!) the rest of us will have huge tsunamis to deal with, as well as the volcanic winter from the eruption(s)

we'll be lucky if a few million make it through. VERY lucky!

THAT is how i see things playing out, and I have thought this for a few years now, maybe even mentioned it on here a few times. NOTHING I have seen since developing this theory has convinced me otherwise.
