Does anyone know or remember how long a quake is considered an aftershock? I know a few years but I don't remember an official number.
Quoting: WhiteAngel I'm not sure there is an official number/answer. Some of the New Madrid Seismic Zone earthquakes are considered to be aftershocks from the 1811-1812 earthquakes. Quoting: Simple27 That one I knew. Crazy 100 years later but true. If the quake is from the same area as a large quake, they are aftershocks. The Tonga quakes made me think of that. Not building - aftershocks.
