Update 09:21 UTC: Landslide expert Dave Petley: The M=7.3 Halabjah earthquake that occurred late yesterday in Iraq has the potential to have triggered large numbers of landslides, but at present there are too many uncertainties to make any sort of reasonable estimate.

Update 08:43 UTC: The numerous, also very dangerous, aftershocks making the earthquake region a hell for the people who cannot evacuate to other areas.
Update 06:38 UTC: Dr. James Daniell, damage/loss expert at CEDIM Karlsruhe, Germany, has calculated that the expected economic losses will be 345 million $ (range: $119m to $787m). His calculations are resulting in a median of 346 fatalities (range 87 to 905)
