Anonymous Coward User ID: 70419082 Finland 11/19/2017 10:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Really active day already and it's only halfway through. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72750689 4+: 25 5+: 8 Biggie incoming? -Finland 4+: 43 5+: 13 Why this might be important? Seeing such activity without 6+ or 7+ as the cause is odd. Numbers and magnitudes don't add up. Also there is something that's bugging about Loyalty Islands activity, it just keeps going. That location has been absent of really large quakes which it's capable of producing. Something to keep an eye on. -Finland I was thinking the exact same things. Weird no larger quakes with all the solid moderate activity we've had going on (plus a few in the 6 range). And the Loyalty Island situation also started hitting me odd as of yesterday. As you said, just keeps going. 4 more quakes there since you posted this, all right around or at 5 mag. High-fives to everyone here, we knew something was up... -Finland |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 70419082 Finland 11/19/2017 10:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Apparently Loyalty Islands has had more 6+ in the last month than between 2011-2017. Any ideas where will this end? What would be the mainshock magnitude? I'd go with 7.7 and this month. Again, looking at past activity the absolute maximum seems to be around 8.1. (Papua New-Guinea - New Zealand region). -Finland |

That means that the quietest year in historical record, 2017, is really the calm before the storm. - Eyes open, no fear. |

Hope you are doing ok and ready for Thanksgiving! Doing very well thanks, and you? I am ready for Thanksgiving, oh yes. I hope you are as well. Mentally I'm ready, but I do have to go grocery shopping today for the stuff I'm making. I don't want to deal with going after work this week. One year I ran into the grocery after work on the night before thanksgiving - took me 15 min. just to park. It was a complete madhouse. Never again. |

I'm very worried about South America. There have been a lot of moderate quakes there lately, and deep ones too. And I noticed on a few of them the testimonies make it sound like the quakes are larger than being reported. |
