Dallas is drier than Austin which gets more moisture. Of course Texas has been in a drought off and on for awhile too - minus the hurricane season they just had.
Quoting: WhiteAngel Dallas is nice for a city. Been there a lot over the years. Plano, Richardson were places my Dad lived, then finally down south to Harlingen. Padre Island was always nice to visit. Quoting: bigD111 My stomping grounds were pretty much the I-35 area. I worked too much when I was there and didn't get to explore like I wished I could have. Never saw the coast but did make it to the Alamo and Waco's museum to Texas Rangers. That was important to me as I have a LOT of ancestors that were in the Rangers. Quoting: WhiteAngel I noticed that there was a man from Kentucky that died that had my last name. Could be a relative, but I don't know. The Hill country was cool to see. You drive through the King ranch going to San Antonio for about 80 miles I think! I was impressed! I think it is 500,000 plus acres. We enjoyed the river walk in San Antonio, of course that was close to 30 years ago! Blanco was a town I visited, as my step mom's Dad had a small ranch there. In 1970,Dad took me with him as he had some cattle in eastern Texas. There was a city we went to that was half in Texas and half in Louisiana. The Texas side was dry (no alcohol), so one street we drove down was solid bars for several blocks! I had never heard of a dry county, so that was pretty funny to me! Quoting: bigD111 I want to go through the areas my family settled from Louisiana through Texas Fannin and down to Menard and then to New Mexico at the turn of the 20th century. My dream is to follow their migration route from North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, part of Arkansas that was still MS at the time and then to LA. They had huge plantations in LA
