Watch HK very closely: The 3M HIBOR/LIBOR spread is blowing out to the most since 2008. That's bad for HK banks like HSBC as mortgage loans are linked to HIBOR. It's also threatening the USD/HKD peg (pic: @Trinhnomics)

we're headed into a global monumental implosion of the markets,,and collapse of every bubble asset built upon central bank debt and monetary policy

My daughter could use some prayers. She is very down and can’t get a job which is making it all worse.
I’ve run out of wisdom to build her up. Medicinal was helping but just so expensive and we’re broke. I’m even feeling very down.

Just seems things never get better no matter how hard one tries and one can only fake it so much. We just need a break. Some goodness for awhile without black clouds. We need the rainbow and sunshine. We would appreciate it, I promise we would!

I pray but nothing is changing. We need a break. I have no where else to ask. Just so tired of the trials.

Ok, I will quit moaning.

God bless you all

I hear ya WA, it seems there's always something to deal with. I feel for your daughter, I know she has her struggles. It's VERY hard to find a job out there right now though. MoN can tell ya. And it doesn't matter what kind of job you're looking for. Unfortunately it typically takes time and a lot of applications until it pays off. I hope she won't feel bad about herself at least. Frustration about the job market would make sense though. But that line of thinking is not easy either because it feels powerless. This too shall pass if she can just hang in there and practice self-care as best she knows how. I will keep my fingers crossed she finds something soon, and that your family will get some reprieve from all of the challenges.

Will you add me into your prayers, Arnie (and all!)?

My blood is just completely out of whack. I saw the hematologist today and we went over my blood test results from Monday. My ongoing problem (for years now) is that my hemoglobin and hematocrit are too high. They’ll drain blood out of me and within a period of weeks to a couple of months my levels are right back up there. I have a handful of consistent symptoms that make life a bit less comfortable, to say the least. Although they can’t diagnose me with polycythemia vera (a rare blood cancer) they’ve been ‘treating’ me for it now for a couple of years.

The blood work I had done on Monday came back showing that my levels were only slightly elevated (hemoglobin & hematocrit). That was surprising to me because I haven’t had my blood drained since December. Normally those levels would be a lot higher than they were.

The problem…my iron profile test. My ferritin level is very low, transferrin is high (out of range), TIBC is high (out of range), iron saturation is low (out of range), unsaturated iron binding capacity is high (out of range). My iron has somehow plummeted. And my ‘stored’ iron is getting very low. All prior iron profile tests came back with too much iron, which makes sense with my high hemoglobin/hematocrit. So this is weird. I have iron deficiency without anemia. With anemia, hemoglobin levels would be low. Mine isn’t, although it wasn’t as high as it normally would have been, it was still out of range high.

The bigger problem…they can’t give me iron supplements because that will make my already high hemoglobin even higher, and they can’t drain my blood now because my iron will drop even lower.

Ugh, wtf. Zero relief is what this means in a nutshell. Plus some extra fatigue. For at least the next two months before I repeat the blood work for a follow up. Like, wtf does that accomplish? Let's do nothing at all because 'we can't' and then repeat the same blood work in 2 months. Awesome. I'm sure this will feel wonderful physically. Just keep on kicking that can down the damn road docs!

I’m being referred to a GI doctor because of the iron drop. Something’s very wrong inside of me. :\ NOT looking forward to the testing the GI docs do.

Geez Simple, I'm sorry to hear your blood issues continue, and that there's not much they can do right now. Did they tell you to try and eat iron-rich foods to see if that helps since they can't give you the meds for it? Sounds like you need a bigger boost than food might normally provide, but it's worth a shot to help the cause. I just hate to hear you have to endure more blood work, tests, doctors, etc. That's no fun at all and also difficult to pull off when you work F/T.

Can't vouch for this site at all, just stumbled upon this and found it worth taking note of, assuming it's valid.

March 19, 2018 Rogue Valley, Oregon – Earthfiles has been receiving worried emails from viewers and listeners who sense that something is significantly wrong in a number of American communities — ranging from absence of insects and pollinators to missing birds. This morning I received the following email from a man who has lived in southwestern Oregon’s Rogue Valley eleven miles north of Medford for 30 years. What he describes in his email are such striking changes around him that he now wonders if a large seismic event is about to happen and the birds at least know in advance.

Papua New Guinea earthquake: there is a disaster on our doorstep that's being ignored

Relatives are there waiting, crying and shrieking, overcome by grief as they confirm their worst fears. The boy is the latest victim of a devastating magnitude 7.5 earthquake that struck Papua New Guinea almost a month ago.

The disaster killed 145 people and that number is expected to rise as more bodies are recovered. Authorities say 270,000 people need emergency aid.

There are few places in the world as remote, and inaccessible, as the highlands of Papua New Guinea where the earthquake occurred.

Smartphones are rare and there is certainly no internet connection.

For weeks after the earthquake, the only visible evidence of the earthquake occurring was from aerial surveillance videos and satellite imagery.

Aid workers couldn't get to the epicentre and neither could journalists.

It has now been several weeks since the initial earthquake and most of the communities hardest hit remain cut off from the outside world. Entire villages have been wiped out by landslides and broken dams.

Food supplies are dwindling, medical supplies are exhausted in many places. And there are now fears of a major health crisis, with food and water sources badly contaminated.
