New Image Shows How the Sun Changes Over a 22-Year Cycle

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), a collaboration between NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), has been in space for more than 22 years — the average length of one completed solar magnetic cycle, according to an image caption from ESA. In the new image, SOHO researchers pulled together 22 images of the sun, taken each spring over the course of a full solar cycle. When the sun is at its most active, strong magnetic fields show up as bright spots in the sun's outer atmosphere, called the corona; black sunspots appear as concentrations of magnetic fields reduce the sun's surface temperature during active periods as well.

A flat-Earth conspiracy theorist named Mike Hughes finally lifted off our spherical planet's surface into the skies aboard a self-made, steam-powered rocket Saturday (March 24).

"Mad" Mike believes, of course mistakenly, that the Earth is flat, and his plan since November 2017 has been to launch himself upwards of 1,800 feet, with the goal of making it high enough to prove the planet's flatness, though that's down the line, he has said.

CS colds can be brutal. It always takes me the standard 7 days to recover unless I use zinc cough lozenges and that cuts the torment in half.

Giant great white shark caught on camera circling Florida man's boat: 'It was like a movie'

Kyle Morningstar was fishing with his friends off Ponce Inlet on the east coast of Florida Saturday when he spotted a dark shadow in the water slowly approaching his boat.

The 31-year-old Port Orange resident was pulling up the anchor of the boat around 2:30 p.m. when he looked over the side of his 23-foot boat and saw a fin poke out of the water.

It was a giant great white shark -- and it was starting to pick up the pace.
