Drive slowly through the park this spring, and remember to stay at least 50 yards from bears. [link to twitter.com (secure)] my daughter was chased by one when 30 years ago I was out looking for bears and it came in camp |

Quoting: -Noahsdad- well, I shaved me head last night...... all in all I am good, still a little pain, but way better... How are you feeling today? I actually wondered if you might just shave it all off! Sorry for the pain but hopefully that will get better and better. Doing a better also, mornings are still rough but hoping this will just go away. good to hear you are feeling better... the hardest part for me now is the not smoking, it will be a week tomorrow, my brain does not want a smoke, but the rest of my body does...weird.... I hear ya! I sort of smoke, don't inhale, just draw into my mouth but almost done with even this part. I think I need those old time candy cigs, lol. I was around for the tail end of that candy era. Oh yeah, I had some candy cigs in my day! lol. But seriously, it's quite hilarious to think that such a thing ever existed. |

I'm glad you still have the boat, I know how much you were enjoying it. I can imagine your head still hurts! Take it easy please, you just went through major surgery! My shoulder is ok, thanks. I still have limited movement and it hurts if I move it in a way it doesn't want to go, but if I can avoid that it doesn't bother me. Glad I took it easy over the weekend, I'm sure that helped pain-wise. |

Simple27 (OP) User ID: 75856824 United States 04/09/2018 07:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I laughed at that headline, but based on the stats in the video, I guess they are overdue! The video also noted there are "multiple faults" under NYC - I had no clue about this. Check out this link from September 2017... New York City is overdue for a major earthquake It’s doubly concerning given that those faults that crisscross Manhattan are not the only ones capable of seismic activity. Geologists now believe that the Ramapo Fault, which spans 185 miles from the Hudson Highlands through New Jersey and Pennsylvania, may be capable of a much stronger earthquake — maybe even one as strong as a 7.0. That kind of quake could easily do more damage to the city proper than 9/11 or Superstorm Sandy. And given the fault’s proximity to Indian Point Energy Center, Entergy’s beleaguered nuclear power plant in Westchester County, crumpled brownstones and inactive subway tunnels may be the least of our concerns. [link to nypost.com (secure)] Much more in link And more on the faults here... One major previously known feature, the Ramapo Seismic Zone, runs from eastern Pennsylvania to the mid-Hudson Valley, passing within a mile or two northwest of Indian Point. The researchers found that this system is not so much a single fracture as a braid of smaller ones, where quakes emanate from a set of still ill-defined faults. East and south of the Ramapo zone—and possibly more significant in terms of hazard--is a set of nearly parallel northwest-southeast faults. These include Manhattan’s 125th Street fault, which seems to have generated two small 1981 quakes, and could have been the source of the big 1737 quake; the Dyckman Street fault, which carried a magnitude 2 in 1989; the Mosholu Parkway fault; and the Dobbs Ferry fault in suburban Westchester, which generated the largest recent shock, a surprising magnitude 4.1, in 1985. Fortunately, it did no damage. Given the pattern, Sykes says the big 1884 quake may have hit on a yet-undetected member of this parallel family further south. I look forward to reading the whole articles as I eat my dinner here in a few. Geez, there's a lot more going on in that area than I realized. Very scary to think about. The faults named after streets cracked me up, though. |
