Oh, when I made that broccoli last night I used coconut oil instead of olive oil. Huge regret. Arnie, I remember you saying you didn't care for the taste of it before. I don't either. I think I ruined coconut oil for myself when I did that oil pulling for my teeth lol! Apparently I won't be doing that with coconut oil ever again. Or cooking with it. I'll stick to extra virgin olive oil for cooking.
Quoting: Simple27 I cannot stand coconut oil...but do love coconut.
A very good oil for cooking / frying is palm oil (the white kind, not the red...), can buy on Amazon. It is very healthy also. For liquid oil I use rice bran oil....excellent, with a high smoke temp for frying, and tasteless / good in salad dressing recipes......I buy the Tophe' brand on Amazon by the half gallon. Expensive,,,but worth. Olive oil, virgin, has a very strong taste so I often mix it with rice bran oil to tone it down in salad dressings...here's a good salad dressing vinaigrette:
RED WINE VINAIGRETTE 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (country)
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons sugar
3/4 cup water
2 teaspoons fresh garlic, minced
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons salt (real-salt)
1 cup vegetable oil (I use rice bran oil)
1/2 cup olive oil
fresh ground black pepper, to taste (rounded 1/4 t., coarse)
1/4 teaspoon oregano
Instructions
blend with immersion blender and put in dressing jars
