Son worked outside for the weekend. Got jock itch. So went to drugstore and got some Hibiclens antibacterial soap.
Washed well with this.
By Monday he had a rash all over his body, and his balls blew up to size of baseballs....(I told him to post a picture on Tinder....)
and was getting difficult to walk,,,so he went to the ER, and got dosed up with steroids / steroid creams / antibiotic etc.
Apparently in some antibacterial soaps there is a component called chlorhexidine, and it has cause quite a number of adverse allergic reactions.
Told him to put a note in his wallet to warn any doctors / surgeons not to cleanse with anything but alcohol cleansers, and not to use any public soaps or antibacterial wipes etc.
He's much better now after.....thank goodness.

Yes, the white on the tail and the wings (which you don't really see much until they are flying) is how I went about identifying it. that plus the aggressive behavior. But for whatever reason the combo of key words I used up until now did not bring forth results. Part of the problem is that most pics identifying birds show them standing still, not flying. lot of weird stuff happening to people lately. Friend got bit by a horsefly and her face blew up hugely! Doc called it late onset allergic reaction. Another friend suddenly has eczema like patches all over her face. Developed an allergic reaction to something. Are our immune systems under some type of siege?

There's a chance it could become more involved with a longer recovery time once they get in there and see what they're really working with. Her surgeon reiterated this to me on two separate occasions, one being last week when he himself called me to remind me of that.

Surgery is due to a torn meniscus. She's gonna be alright either way, but I do hope she gets the easier route with this one.

Not sure when I'll be able to update tomorrow. Once she's out of surgery she has to stay there in recovery for a couple of hours. When she can leave I'll be taking her to my mom's house so she can help her while I go to the office, if it's worth going depending on the time. Friday I'll be home with her all day though.

Japan floods: Scope of disaster becomes clearer

In western Japan, more than 180 people are dead and dozens are still missing almost a week after torrential rain led to flooding and landslides. Now, there are new fears that reservoirs in Hiroshima Prefecture could burst amid rising water levels.

Officials have ordered people in the cities of Higashihiroshima and Fuchu to evacuate their homes. It comes following reports that separate reservoirs burst on Wednesday. That turned out not to be the case.

We're getting a better sense of the damage.

Officials say at least 140,000 homes and buildings have been damaged because of flooding in Okayama Prefecture... one of the hardest-hit areas.

Almost 240,000 homes have been cut off from water in western Japan. That's led to long lines at water trucks.

The water shortages come amid another challenge... rising temperatures.

Japan's Meteorological Agency says daytime highs could reach around 35 degrees in the next week or so.
The humidity is already high.

The health ministry is also warning about the potential for food poisoning. It says, in the past, people have become sick after eating food that was left out too long at shelters.
