Anonymous Coward 08/14/2018 02:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My understanding is that when all of the 3-range magnitude quakes started 'popping up' was when EMSC added a Mexico seismic network to their list. Meaning these quakes have been taking place longer than we've been recording them on this thread because they weren't showing up on EMSC (or USGS) until last year when EMSC added the Mexico network to theirs. Something along those lines : ) thank you .c.c 3,4,5-range …. and no one knows the cause? btw many countries including IRAN have subs and ships in the same area as the earthquakes. |

Below is some info : ) Hey Sim, are these offshore Mexico quakes tied into volcanic activity? Every day they seem to be in the same mid-3 range but at varying depths. Quoting: Zeke38 Hmmm, hard to say without really looking into each earthquake. It's possible that some are and some aren't. I think we would need to look at the seismos for each to be able to determine that. Check out these two links... Situated atop three of the large tectonic plates that constitute the earth's surface, Mexico is one of the most seismologically active regions on earth. The motion of these plates causes earthquakes and volcanic activity. Most of the Mexican landmass rests on the westward moving North American plate. The Pacific Ocean floor off southern Mexico, however, is being carried northeast by the underlying motion of the Cocos plate. Ocean floor material is relatively dense; when it strikes the lighter granite of the Mexican landmass, the ocean floor is forced under the landmass, creating the deep Middle American trench that lies off Mexico's southern coast. The westward moving land atop the North American plate is slowed and crumpled where it meets the Cocos plate, creating the mountain ranges of southern Mexico. The subduction of the Cocos plate accounts for the frequency of earthquakes near Mexico's southern coast. As the rocks constituting the ocean floor are forced down, they melt, and the molten material is forced up through weaknesses in the surface rock, creating the volcanoes in the Cordillera Neovolcánica across central Mexico. Based on the thread title, I knew it would be entertaining. I've never seen such a thing! I don't doubt the territory theory, but I'd sort of like to think they are just playing with one another. I wonder what kind of fish those are? |

I use them for dusting / floors, push around with a Swiffer mop on the floor,,,,bathroom / kitchen / everywhere, plus can be used for personal care. Store the container upside down, as the top tends to dry out and you want the moisture on top when pulling them out. So cheap you can use them everywhere and just throw them out... almost 18000 reviews.... [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] |

That being said, being a MO resident, even the smallest MO quakes don't go unnoticed by me, that's for sure. Thanks for posting this! |
