Whoa!!!! I will, meanwhile the capped tooth cost $1250, not even a root canal, and the oral surgeon was $650. Came right out of savings, which luckily I had but is now pretty much tapped out. We're all just hangin by a wing and a prayer.
 Quoting: Isis One

Sending some of that energy back to you! Ugh, teeth are so expensive to maintain. I dread starting the process of fixing up some of my problems as they will run about the same cost as yours did for each one. It's outrageous what it costs.
 Quoting: Simple27

Yea, like my Dentist really needs to make $1200/hr. They totally know they have you over a barrel. My friend's dentist is less money but he is old and not taking new patients. Thanks for the energy!

SO sorry Simple....I think in today's world, there is just
WAY too much stress, just way too much stress, people are working so hard just to keep up with rising prices and family issues of all kinds. A neighbor lady aged 47, has a 16-year old daughter that is just driving her nuts, and her husband lost his job so she has to make it on her job alone which doesn't pay enough. Neither the husband or daughter help her with anything, so she has all the domestic things to do also. She feels sick but can't afford the doctor co-pay, and is too tired to make meals so there is alot of fast food which doesn't help. She comes over often just crying and feels unable to go on. And is so nervous she can't even sleep well. I'm really worried about her.
People feel "empty", because life is just a gerbil wheel, they cannot get ahead and feel accomplishment and this is just non-stop, and they cannot even let down for a vacation.
Prayers for you Simple,

 Quoting: Arnie

Most positive thoughts and prayers to your neighbor and you as well Arnie. And you are right. Way to much stress in the world today. We lost base and balance long ago. That is why we need each other more than ever. You are one of those awesome people. hf
 Quoting: InterMezzo

IM, you have a way with comforting words, with grounding sentiments, a rare attribute. I agree we have lost life's balance,,,I lived during the happy 1950's,,,,women were home taking care of husband and children and home. My teaching in home economics was all about the skills needed for women in the home. Then in the late 1960's women began to go to work, egged on by the government, who would be enriched by the taxes on their pay, instead of the husband having an UN-TAXED ASSET all to themselves. The monetary worth of this asset was delegated to the workforce and taxed by the government. The husband and children lost their wife and mother, and things have only deteriorated since then, into this horribly chaotic situation. God set the way families should be,,,the husband working for food, the wife his help-mate in the home.
I am old enough to have seen this gradual change,,,and seen women especially constantly driven with the stress of it all.
You are a precious soul IM,,,,,

meerghug
 Quoting: Arnie

I have a slightly different take on it. I think initially the liberating idea was that a woman could do either, go to work, or stay home. Freedom of choice. That quickly morphed into "you better do both" which was oppressive. I Never would have survived as a stay at home person. Not my skill set, nor my inclination. I don't have children or a husband but if I did I don't see any reason why I shouldn't access my skills if they lie outside the home. We are all capable of putting our heads together to come up with win-win scenarios. Just adding my 2c!
 Quoting: Isis One

I could write a paper on this, but I better not do this here, it would distract to much and stray way to much from the purpose of this thread. Of course family being a cornerstone is part of if, even though I very much agree with Isis when it comes to choices and skills.

But in a broader view I believe we as society have desocialized, ever since technology increasingly progressed, leading to imbalance between what we need and what we want, financially and in mindset. And then this Pandora's Box called the Internet was opened. It made us forget how to live together outside this box, in the streets, at home, at work, everywhere. That lid can not be closed again, impossible. It would require a total reset of systems, including our own brain, to get back to basics.

But as said, I won't disrupt this thread with it. Maybe I'll make a thread about it when I can find the time. And me saying that, means that I too am suffering from the same effects.

Stay strong, believe in skills in yourself and others and sometimes take a step back to reflect. We are all way to precious to be falling to the speed our society is increasingly derailing. We might not always have a choice, due to financial pressure and all that, but then sometimes take a moment to ask yourself that if you keep running at this same speed, if you can run that same marathon and a few miles extra tomorrow. I will give you the answer: No, you can't. Every marathon needs recuperating. So slow down every now and then. Easier said than done, but tomorrow will always be there and you might not. hf

Edit: a few textual corrections.
