I'm totally freaking out inside about Monday. :\ Quoting: Simple27 Simple my Dad has had 2 stents one 10 years ago and the other about 1 year ago. The Drs normally put you on a blood thinner after the procedure. Normally you are not put under but just relaxed for the procedure. Remember my Dad is 97 now and the blood thinner - Plavex was one of the items he had to be off of when he had his hip replacement about 6 months ago. Another is my cousin that actually had a heart attack and they did an angeogram but did not install any stents. He changed his diet and exercised even more under the guidance of a heart rehab facility. Then about 10 months later he had another heart attack and they put in two stents and he is back on the amends. Here is one more a friend of mine had an angeogram just two weeks ago and they found minor blockage in one of the arteries on the back side of his heart and they did not install a stent. His recovery took a few days because after the procedure the doctors are VERY concerned about the site in his leg where they inserted the cathedar. It appears that each case might be unique to the situation. Prayers sent to you and Ryan. Thank you so much for sharing this John. :cubhugs: ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Really not much in the way of pain, simple so don’t worry. Just an inconvenience is all. And we miss out on cheap handyman services we’ll now have to pay full price for. Yeesh. |

I'm totally freaking out inside about Monday. :\ Quoting: Simple27 Hi my friends. I could use some prayers. I’ve put this off as long as I could, but it’s time. Quoting: Simple27 Last Friday I had a situation that landed me in the ER overnight. Ultimately it got blamed on uterine fibroids that I have (and told them about prior to the ultrasound). I lost a lot of blood that day & night. Incidentally during my trip to the ER they tested my potassium and found it to be pretty low. It was 3.0. They gave me some potassium pills right away and told me to eat bananas lol. That was the extent of it. Fast forward to Tuesday and I had to have lab work done for my hematologist. One of the things tested was again my potassium, which has now dropped to 2.7. My primary care doctor received these results and immediately prescribed me 3,000 mg of potassium per day for the next 15 days. I will be retested about a week after finishing those 15 days. A potassium level of 2.5 and below is considered life-threatening and you get admitted into the hospital and put on IV potassium, which I’ve read can be quite painful and feel like your veins are burning. :\ Heart failure can occur with a low potassium level, and mine is getting close to life-threatening. Hopefully these potassium pills work. I can’t swallow them because they are HUGE! I have to dissolve them in water and then drink the water. Blah! Lol. Moving along to bigger and scarier things… My other half, who is also a GLP’er (although doesn’t visit frequently here anymore) is more in need of prayers. He’s got some blockage in his heart arteries. On Monday he goes in for a heart catheterization and likely a PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention). Stent. We’ll be at the hospital for hours, mostly due to the recovery period after the procedure/surgery. There are MANY complications that can take place during this procedure, including heart failure on the table. Please keep him in your prayers. His name is Ryan. Thank you Prayer Warriors! Much love for you all and you ALL are ALWAYS in my prayers! Oh S it doesnt rain but it pours!! Sending lots and lots of love and strength and healing and good wishes to you all <3 Xx Morning Quakeateers Xx |

I'm totally freaking out inside about Monday. :\ Quoting: Simple27 ] I have similar experiences like others described here Sim. My brother, who is now almost 60, has two stents placed around the heart. He was a heavy smoker and has diabetes, so not exactly the spitting image of a healthy person. They did the catheterization and placed the stents. Technology has advanced so much that it practically has become a mainstream thing. My brother was back home within two days, recovery went swift and it IS a world of difference compared to before. Much more breathing air. What also helps enormously is that he quit smoking. And I know Ryan is trying and quitting as well, so you both try not to worry and go from the positive experiences Sim. It will be alright. It takes some discipline to recover, but after that, health wise there will be a new Ryan. And as for you. Do you know how many vitamins there are in one single banana? No? Well, then I'll just go ask another monkey.. I know, lame! Seriously, all joking aside. Every disadvantage has its advantage. So in that respect what happened last week helped finding out about your potassium level. And even though I know you hate hospitals and all the poking and check ups for so many years already, in your situation it is good that you are checked. I said it before, you are used to run faster than Ben Johnson ran the 100 meters on dope, but sometimes you need to put a brake on it, as frustrating as it is. You are on the right track with your supplements and changed food pattern, so go from there. Get that potassium level back up and continue with what you are doing sweetheart. Trust yourself, it IS working. And in the meantime I bought stocks in the banana industry, to see if I can counter the crypto currency mess, but honestly I wouldn't mind to lose money on the banana trade. You not eating bananas anymore, would mean that you laugh again in the face of low potassium levels and yell: "Come at me health!" My thoughts and prayers are with you and Ryan always. And with Mini of course. It will be alright! |
InterMezzo User ID: 45716769 Netherlands 11/25/2018 07:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And this one is for notjustanothergranny. Because you are not just another. Far from it. I have the utmost respect and admiration for you and my heart goes out to you, your mom, Sadie and her mom and your son. I truly hope the fiancee gets clean as well. It certainly is not the life anyone wants. Sometimes we end up in that mess though for whatever reason. That shit gets people killed and ruins lives, of those who use and their families. Many of us have that experience, being addicted or related to them. Nothing but sadness, hurt and death comes from it, nothing. So I truly hope she finds that light and knows she has a beautiful daughter and people that form her firm base and shelter, like you. Life is so much more beautiful without all that crap. It takes will power, but if we are really determined and know there are those who catch us when we fall, we can really overcome the evil of all evil. And please do not forget yourself along the way either. You are special and much appreciated by many. |
