Well put and true MoN. It goes hand in hand with building life experience. Of course not every decision is the right one and sometimes you have no other choice but to choose intellect above gut, but when you go from the heart, the majority will be right. And more important, you can look at yourself in the mirror with a straight face.

I have always been true to myself in my decisions in life, at work. People can hate me for it if they want to, because they didn't get to hear what they wanted, but I refuse to play the political game. It would mean I would betray myself and what I stand for.

You know, and maybe it sounds like a cliche, but while one door closes, another one opens. Be true, respectful, honest and no one can touch you in your core. Others can take decisions that are not just and unfair, but at the end of the day you will always end up where you see yourself, if not now, then later.

Good luck my friend. You are a true one and I applaud you for that.

It must be horrible to be part of an organisation where things like that happen and even to witness it. First firing people and then on top of that treat them like criminals. Terribly inhumane. Just kick them even harder when they are down. If I were security, I couldn't do that, I am sure.

Thank God it is not like that over here, even though having to let people go without them expecting it, like today, is also heart breaking, especially when it comes to people you worked with practically all your life. The only comfort we have over here in Holland is that financially there is a safety net, where there is, as far as I know, none over there in the States.

And I hear you about the domino effect Arnie. I hope for your son it will work out.

Dang IM, that can never be an easy thing to do. Especially for someone with such a big heart as you. Take care of yourself in the process. Wishing the best for that person going forward.

Our intuition is there for a reason, and it's to protect us. It should ideally always be heeded. Of course, the hard part is not letting our heads get in the way. I usually go with my gut, but I still have to battle my head in the process much of the time. I bet in the past when you felt your gut led you astray, it was really your head that got in the way and you didn't even realize it. Or some other factor that blinded you from letting your intuition lead the way.

I think you're gonna be fine MoN. Do what feels right for you and don't let your dad or anyone else tell you that's the "wrong" way. There is no single agenda we all have to follow.

Oh man, that story made me cringe and tear up all at once. It's so cruel how many companies handle these situations. I understand they have to think about retaliation, etc., but there's got to be a way that would be safe for all and not add shame and humiliation to an already devastating process.

Glad you son and his team were spared. Although I'm sure watching their peers be escorted out was somewhat traumatic.
