Sorry guys. Still fluctuating from time to time about being glad to be out of that place and “how dare they.” implement ideas the new employee brought up that I brought up when I first got there a year ago that they couldn’t give a rat’s ass about doing.

Nevermind the fact that I carried the department doing 10 people’s jobs for three months back this summer when I was the only one there.

We have a pretty big storm coming in tomorrow. All schools in the Denver metro area and most of the front range announced school was cancelled tomorrow at 2:30pm today when it was 62 degrees.

Seriously, it was a beautiful day. Tomorrow we are under a Blizzard Warning, with winds 50-75 mph, and 4-12" of snow that will be very hard to measure. The biggest concern is east of Denver further out on the Plains where all the ranchers are. Over 10,000 cattle were killed when two feet of snow hit last Spring, they fear that number could triple with this storm.

This is a warning to all who are east of Colorado; major weather heading your way!!!!

I just learned of this storm last night on our local weather. We're going to get a bunch of rain over Wed/Thurs. from it, but they said parts of the northern plains were going to get pounded with snow. I had no idea they were talking 2 feet in spots! I tell ya, the last thing we need here is more rain. We've had such a wet winter, lots of snow AND rain, and the ground is so soft you sink when you stand on it. Seriously, I was trying to talk to my neighbor in the back yard over the fence and I had to cut it short because I kept sinking and had to get off the grass. If there would be a big quake here right now, liquefaction would happen in an instant! We're halfway there, it seems.

There are fears here about flooding in the spring. Even if we have average amount of rain this spring, it's going to be too much on top of what we've already had over the winter. Add to that all the snow from the northern states melting and coming down the Mississippi, and that could be bad news. I think most cities up and down the length of the Mississippi are slated to see some level of flooding this spring, the question is, how bad will it be.

Boss came to my office today to discuss the email I had sent to him on Friday about my pay and my responsibilities there. I was truly surprised by his human/nice reply to my email, and even more surprised that he didn't avoid me all this week since he will be on vacation next week. Based on all of my years with him, I honestly didn't expect to see him around for a couple of weeks after the email exchange on Friday.

Not only did he come to me to discuss everything, he came prepared. He actually did some homework before our meeting and figured out exactly what I made in 2018, and what I could have made if I was on salary (not hourly). It was a pretty substantial difference. And this project would have taken some time of his to put together because of the way that I am paid. It's complicated lol. But the point is that he finally sat down and actually looked at what I got paid in comparison to the amount of work that I did.

He admitted that HE has made money by paying me hourly, because he knows that I work 'off the clock' at nights and on weekends from home to make sure that my work is always done.

He told me...he actually said that I am excellent at my job and that I am a critical part of the company.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting there dumbfounded by what I am experiencing/witnessing (lol). I felt like I was watching this scene from The Grinch...

So he asks what I am thinking. What's going on in my head. Since he opened the door to the salary topic, I told him that being on salary would help a lot. He then asked me about office hours and 'work from home' hours. Like, what?! Am I speaking to the same man I have been working for practically my entire adult life?? Getting him to consider salary is huge for me, for thousands of reasons. I wasn't even going to ask for a 'work from home' day to be thrown in the mix, especially after he seemed willing to put me on salary. He brought it up and said he'd let me work from home 1 day per week and give him 30 hours at the office the other 4 days (so 7.5 hours per day, 4 days per week in the office + 1 day per week at home).

I'm sitting there, mostly in shock, and tell him that schedule would work for me. He then points to his printed up papers at the figure representing the amount I would have made in 2018 if I had been on salary and asks me, if he puts me on salary with that salary number being larger than the 'would have made' figure, would that be a fair raise?

Are you freaking kidding me?! It would be FAR more than I ever would have expected from him!

I have been so discouraged about this whole meeting. I fixed up my resume over the weekend and sent it out to some companies. Got a response last night from one company wanting to meet with me this week. But again, my ideal situation is staying put as long as I am being compensated properly. I just never thought this meeting with my boss today would go so well.

So things got left at him working up some numbers (due to the complicated way I am paid) that would benefit me far more than now. He said he will get back to me quickly. But as of now I know that I would be put on salary making substantially more than I currently am, AND be able to work from home 1 day per week, every week. I will take on the account he needs to be handled, and when we hire someone new (interviews have been in progress), that person will be taking one account off of me (basically an even swap).

And when we move to the new building this year, I will still have my own office. A bigger one. : )

Amazing. I'm seriously blown away that he took the time to figure out just how badly I've been being fucked and is actually willing to rectify it.

This is huge for me, for my mini, for my family.

Thanks for all the support my friends! This whole situation has been taking a toll on me for a long time. The anxiety since Friday has been off the hook.

I can breathe a little easier tonight.
