Excerpt:

At 300 PM CDT...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
968 mb was located near Manter, Kansas and was moving eastward. An
occluded front extended eastward across the Central Plains and
into a triple point over southeastern Missouri with a cold front
extending southward across Lower Mississippi Valley and
southeastern Texas. A warm front extended southward from the
triple point across the Lower Mississippi Valley and into the Gulf
of Mexico. National Weather Service radars and surface
observations indicated moderate to heavy snowfall with blizzard
conditions in some places across the Northern/Central Plains and
Central Rockies. Moderate to heavy rainfall spread into the
Mississippi Valley with some thunderstorm activity reported in the
Lower Mississippi Valley. High winds gusting near 100 mph were
observed near Colorado Springs, Colorado.

At 3:30 AM CCT, Tropical Cyclone Savannah, Category One located at 11.3S 96.7E or 100 kilometers north of Cocos Island has 10 minute sustained winds 40 knots of with gusts of 55 knots. The tropical low is reported as moving south southwest at 6 knots.

Tropical Cyclone Savannah, category 1, is expected to continue to move towards the south-southwest and gradually strengthen during the next few days. It will pass close by to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands during Thursday morning.

Strong and squally winds and heavy rainfall may occur ahead of the system early Thursday morning.

Periods of GALES with gusts to 100 km/h are likely over the Cocos (Keeling) Islands during this morning and may persist until Thursday afternoon.

As the system moves southwest away from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, moderate to rough seas and low to moderate northerly swell is likely to impact the lagoon area during later Thursday and Friday.

Heavy rain is expected with totals between 50 and 150 mm possible, easing later Thursday.

The winds around Denver are lessening but still snowing heavily. We have at least 6" in the middle of two areas where it is piling up because of blowing snow. Not sure how much we have had.

26 rail cars blown off a train trestle in northeast New Mexico. Nearest reports show winds gusts of 55-65 mph, but I suspect a slightly higher gust occurred here

Now a Colorado State Patrol officer killed, Dan Groves, age 52. Was assisting a stuck vehicle when he was struck by another car that had been spinning out.

If you are east of Colorado, and the storm is heading towards you, please please be prepared!!!!

You could be right, maybe there is more to it. I just know it's been very wet here, and I know I can't stand on any unpaved earth for any period of time. Glad to know I'm not alone.
