Not really the time of year, but for me I don't have to sleep so much.

Being in an incredibly shitty job where everyone ignores what you say despite the fact they hired you for your expertise in the first place will do that to you.

I'm in Spring cleaning mode! We rented a small dumpster to get rid of all the crap in the basement that got damaged when it flooded. Some furniture and stuff and lots of debris from having to tear out some sheet rock. So I'm taking advantage of the extra space to throw some junk out that we normally don't have room for in our regular weekly trash barrel. I'm so happy to get rid of stuff we never use and free up some storage space.

The little things that make me so happy lol. I love a freshly cleaned house!

We're all just expendable, meat suited assets to our employers, or at least how i've always felt. I've all but given up on this job, enough so they are threatening to fire me if my numbers don't go up. And quite frankly, i'm all for being canned. lol

Gonna miss the cold if i end up moving to Florida though, no lie. Spending Christmas on the beach, wearing shorts didn't sit well with me those couple times haha

Giraffe Welcome 2019

Welcome to the world little one!

Early this morning, April’s behavior suggested a calf was on the way. Team members cleaned and prepared and then left the barn to give April her space.

Approximately 11:00 am, Jordan entered the barn to check April, who laid with her back end just out of camera view on both camera angles. Upon Jordan’s entry to the barn, April stood up and revealed that she had in fact been in labor and the calf’s hooves and first 8-10” of leg were emerging!

Labor alerts were quickly initiated, Veterinary and park staff called to the barn and we watched with over 300k other viewers!

Approximately 12:43 pm, our calf made its big “splash” into the world! Dr Tim quickly identified we had welcomed a baby boy!

Calf and mother bonded quickly.
Calf was on it’s feet around 1:27 pm
Nursing was observed 1:51 pm

Teams have since left the barn to allow mom and calf to continue their bond and build strength.

Tomorrow, a full exam of the calf will take place and provide weight and height.

I really thought it was as girl, dang it! The picture at the link is freaking precious. I just saw him galloping across the stall a few minutes ago already!

haha, I totally can picture you with the shorts/sweater (or sweatshirt) combo.

It's a beautiful sunny day here but cool. Low 50s. I've been doing various odds n ends around the house getting ready for my St. Pat's party tomorrow. Also made a few dips and some slider sammiches. I'm pretty much ready to roll and now I can relax the remainder of the evening.

Indeed. I would have preferred to have quit with a new job in place, though. They ignored me, wouldn't let me do my job, yet it's MY FAULT the numbers were where they were at and I'm the one that's let go. What about the boss who's responsible? Yet HE gets to keep HIS job.

I had seen a comment on the side chat of the live stream earlier that said Dr. Tim had held up a piece of blue paper for the stream after the birth. I was hoping for a girl this time, but of course just happy to see a little healthy baby giraffe and a successful delivery for April.
