No one covers my stuff while I'm away. Shit show for real. : ( Quoting: Simple27 It is the worst. In fact, it almost makes one not want to take time off. Which is what happened last year and why I only took 4 days off the entire year. I'm leaving town this Thursday and you'd think I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks the way I'm prepping at work. It's ridiculous, and it shouldn't be that hard. Have fun!!! Spread the word, change the collective conscious...... THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH OF EVERYTHING TO GO AROUND When you are undisciplined, the universe is extremely forgiving and when you are disciplined, the universe is extremely generous. Anonymous Coward User ID: 77059120 Portugal 05/08/2019 08:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 AM EDT Wed May 08 2019 Valid 12Z Wed May 08 2019 - 12Z Fri May 10 2019 ...Severe weather and flash flooding are likely in parts of the Plains and Mississippi Valley for Wednesday and Thursday... ...Heavy snow is possible in higher elevations of the Rockies, while a few inches of snow is possible near Lake Superior... A potent front that has been lingering in the Central Plains and Middle Mississippi Valley over the past couple of days will begin to move today as a low tracks northeast--a warm front will lift northward east of the low, while a cold front moves through the Central/Southern Plains and Rockies over the next couple of days. A significant moisture plume from the Gulf of Mexico will flow into the frontal system, causing widespread heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms. Today, there is a Moderate Risk of excessive rainfall and an Enhanced Risk of severe weather for the ArkLaTex region. Tornadoes, wind, hail, and flash flooding are all possible there. Slight Risks of severe weather and flash flooding both extend into the Central Plains and parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley today as well. On Thursday, the Moderate Risk of flash flooding will be located along the Western Gulf Coast as the cold front shifts southeast, and a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms is in place for the Lower Mississippi Valley. Showers and thunderstorms will extend into the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys and the Southeast on Thursday ahead of the front, reaching the Eastern Seaboard on Friday. |

Much of this rain will be draining into the Mississippi River over the coming days, which will flow south into Missouri and Illinois through next week. Who Will Be Affected: Those along the Mississippi River, north of St. Louis will be affected with minor to moderate flooding late next week. What to Do Now: If you have interests along the Mississippi River, monitor forecasts closely and take protective actions if needed. When flooding occurs late next week, remember to obey all barricaded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77059120 Portugal 05/08/2019 08:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is the related discussion as to the squall line that we are seeing already this am: Excessive Rainfall Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 430 AM EDT Wed May 08 2019 Day 1 Valid 12Z Wed May 08 2019 - 12Z Thu May 09 2019 ...THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER PORTIONS OF THE LOWER MS VALLEY... A large area of heavy rainfall will stretch across much of the central portion of the country today. Convection will be ongoing at 12z this morning across TX/OK with a flash flood threat continuing with this activity. The greatest threat should be across central OK south towards the Red River, where cell merging and training will continue to be a concern into the morning hours. As we head from late morning into the afternoon hours we should see a more consolidated squall line progress eastward into eastern TX, AR and LA. This line should be more progressive by this point, but still anticipate some merging of cells into the squall line, resulting in a flash flood threat into AR/LA this afternoon. |
