...
there were almost 500,000 without power here in Michigan,,,many last night storms. I had a large branch fall into the back patio.....trimmed it up, but the thick part will have to wait for the son tomorrow.
The wind last night was something to behold, and frightening,,,

I'll never forget the 2012 deracho that swept through the D.C. area.... Most intense storm i've ever been in. Here is a pic from it over the white house :dclightning: I have never seen the word "derecho" before and had to look it up. We get straight line and down draft winds but I think this is more likely in the midwest where the winds and storms blow straight across for a long while. Right? I hadn't heard of it before 2012.. Its a large lined storm that moves really quickly. The one that hit D.C. formed over chicago - then 6 hours later was in the metropolitan area. I guess the speed and intensity of the storm define whether it's a deracho or not?  Seeing a lot more of them forming since then..
