I didn't know you were trying for this. That's great you feel you're making headway. I have a single male friend (my bff) who did it. He took his time gathering enough "evidence" to prove he is the stable parent (and on the flip side, that she was the unstable one). He got full physical AND legal custody, and he deserved it. That kid is thriving.

ETA: The mom is a deadbeat, it's not like I was rooting for him simply because he's my friend. The kid's livelihood depended on it.

That's great Mr.S, I had no idea. The tides are changing - they no longer assume the mom is the stable household by default. Of course, sometimes it comes down to getting a good judge who isn't too "old school" in their thinking.

It was really bad here. I saw one tweet from a near suburb of STL, and they got SIX inches! I heard it raining overnight - had no clue how hard it had rained until I got up this morning and learned of the flash flooding all over the metro area! There were people in apartments only a few miles from me that woke up to a foot of water on the first floor. Peoples' cars were floating in parking lots. It's crazy, it just won't stop.

For all those going through what they are going through: you are all soldiers, fighters, and amazing people.

You know my struggles over the past few years.

Knee surgery in 2016 due to a completely torn quadriceps tendon in my right knee - 8 months, 24/7 in a locked immobilizer brace, wound care twice a week w/debridement for 6 of those months, no PT until Feb. 2017, including the surgery wound complications with the wound that wouldn't fucking heal.

Then my work fired me within 3 months of my return on a technicality and a bull-shit reason after I ran out of all of my FMLA leave (which is standard practice among companies in general and is against the law). You can sue for that also (no, I'm not talking about anything in that regard, UH).

Finally strong enough to be discharged from PT in December, 2018.

Mostly OK now but functionality is left to be desired. Still doing PT work every day to bring my knee back to normal. Sometimes I wonder when that last little bit will get here, anyway, and if I'm still fighting for nothing.

My Ex made me out to be the worst dad on the planet after I broke up with her

I had to have supervised visits with Noah for a year and a half

I finally got unsupervised visits a couple months ago

The court in Canada is supposed to look out for the best interest for the child, so my ex made me out to be crazy and abusive

She even told them I belong to GLP a conspiracy site that believes in aliens and UFO’s

Any how her lies will only hold up and give her the upper hand until we go to trail, and when they find out she has been lying about me she will lose custody to me

Still doesn’t replace the 2 years of hell Noah and I had to endure

This is exactly why I don't tell people in my real life I hang out on GLP for mental breaks.

At the time, PA was very 'old school'. I did what your bff did and gathered a LOT of evidence and it sickened me to find out some shit. Everybody jokes about their ex being crazy, but I had proof..written documents, video, etc..of her madness and drug use.

Both kids (not kids anymore, lol) turned out well, thank the lord.

I'm sorry to hear what you've been through also, MS. But, I am glad you were able to triumph through it all.

Great work...but I know it can be such BS hardship gathering all sorts of evidence in that regard when people lie. It shouldn't have to be done, either. But, at the end of the day, it's their word against yours until you have that evidence. Ugh.

You often talk about your youngest. Are the older ones grown and out of the house? Do they live in your general area, or out of town?

That's awful, but it happens all the time (see this thread, three of you have mentioned being lied on by your ex's, I'm sure there are others). ALL courts are to be looking out for the best interest of the child, whether Canada, US or elsewhere. Unfortunately, some people are good liars, and I do think in the case of men they still have a slight disadvantage because historically the kids always went to the woman and the assumption is that the woman will be the better caretaker. You are doing what my friend did and what Mr. S did - being patient, collecting evidence...I have faith it will work out in the long run. You just gotta believe, and you have to be patient.

what's sad is that Noah was put through all this. That's what is hard to understand - how people can be so bitter against the other parent that they are blind to what's in the best interest of the child. Although I guess sometimes dysfunctional people can still think they are the better parent, even when they clearly aren't.

Forgot to mention, my friend's ex was also ordered to pay him child support! That really burned her up. She's still bitter and difficult towards him. Half the time she doesn't show up on her days to see her kid. Once again, the poor child pays the price.
