[link to www.hopkinsmedicine.org (secure)] Wow MS. I read up on it this morning and that is some serious stuff. Maybe a dumb question, but I take it you also already had it from birth? And I also read that surgery and bone / skull removal can strongly reduce the pain and other side effects that come with it. Or even eliminate it. But I guess that also depends on the level of Chiari. As I recall you had surgery last year? With your age, you must have gone through such a lot of pain and attacks the years before and I wonder why no surgery when you were a kid. But maybe you have. I don't know. I apologize for any invasion of your privacy or if I say something stupid. It just touches me and I can almost feel that pain through your words. My utmost positive thoughts and prayers for you my friend. So sorry you have to go through al this. |

As usual they were impressed with my history and qualifications.. blah blah... Not worried about it though, as I expected it. And I know the job will happen when ever it happens. Enjoying the free life as it is. Off to a BBQ in Germany in a bit with former colleagues and then at around 3 am off to Amsterdam Airport to see family off on vacation. So, long night ahead. On another note... Happy Friday everyone. Enjoy your time zones and keep shaking the safe way. Love to all. |

My utmost positive thoughts and prayers for you my friend. So sorry you have to go through al this. That surgery was different...kind of related but not directly for Chiari. I had the decompression surgery about 10 years ago and it did help a lot. It's not a cure, especially after so many years of scarring, but it definitely helped. The answer to your question lies in the diagnosis. I wasn't dx'ed until age 35. They just didn't know that the problem existed until then. When I was first dx'ed, Chiari was considered very rare and I guess the MRI techs just weren't trained to look for it. Chairi is now considered uncommon and many more folks are getting dx'ed at earlier ages. Thanks for you concern and prayers. "I have no special talents. Even if it's not about your age, per se, it is indirectly because they feel they have to offer someone with years of experience a lot more money. The upside is that you're getting good feedback. I have faith that the right thing is going to come along for you, though. I'm glad you have the same hope. Enjoy your BBQ! |
