@NME

Ginger Baker, the incendiary former Cream drummer, renowned for his epochal talent behind the kit – as well has his fiery personality – has died at the age of 80

One of my favorite songs that involves Baker on drums:

Another Legend bites the dust. Rest In Peace Mr. Baker, but knowing you, you are not one to settle for peace and quiet. You never have and I thank you for that!

Yeah, he was a feisty and interesting dude. Here's his wiki page for those who care to get a quick glimpse.

Good evening Madam Dracu-KickinIt. hugs

Nothing but rain here all day. And quite cold. A good day to turn up the central heating for the first time this fall.
 Quoting: InterMezzo

One of my favorite things is when I turn my heat on for the first time each fall. There's something comforting about it. And there's a smell to it. I don't know if it's dust that settled and is kicking up or what, but it's a non-offensive, very specific but slight odor that first day the heat's on that I also find comforting.

Lovely day here,,,no leaves have turned yet, so I guess like prior couple of years,,they'll be collecting leaves with the snow in December....our seasons are now about 6 weeks late for spring and fall.

Getting done with the applesauce, FINALLY, mailing some to daughter in CA, with strawberry swirled in the jars.

I have much garden to cut down, tad more window to do, then............rake the leaves. I always kind of like it, the last day of leaf raking, though son comes over with his monster gas blower and does most of them. Then it is indoors for the winter, and only indoor things to worry about. And comfort meals and chili. And soups.
And trying some recipes from this fun cookbook...

I am very surprised to hear you've had no trees turning yet, seeing as you are so far north. Here it's not surprising this early in October, but you should be well ahead of us. Based on a map I posted here some weeks ago, we aren't due for peak color until the first week of November!

Glad you're resting your bones today. As you said, well deserved after a productive weekend!

And we have to put up with this here in California.
The road tax of 6 cents per gallon.....

snip:
the latest increase from a 2017 law designed to raise about $5 billion a year for road and mass transit programs.

A 12-cent-per-gallon boost came that November, and voters last year rejected a Republican-led effort to repeal the law.
[link to www.latimes.com (secure)]

AND now this at the stroke of a pen by Nancy Pelosi's Brother in law Gavin Newsome.....
[link to www.ocregister.com (secure)]

With a stroke of his pen, California Governor Gavin Newsom has redirected part of the money you pay at the pump with the state’s gas tax to the railway system and other projects.

Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-19-19.

It calls for leveraging billion in annual state transportation funds to reduce green house gases and emissions.

And why is gasoline at $4 per gallon here in California????

wtfwtfwtf
 Quoting: joinca

Every time I visit my bro in CA, I'm astonished at the gas prices. Even though I know they're high, I'm floored by it every time. Missouri has consistently been one of the states with the lowest gas prices for as long as I can remember paying attention to it. Heck, I drive to Ohio and I'm shocked by how much more it is in IL, IN and OH, and they've got nothing on CA. We're spoiled here.

The baseball game is on right now (ATL@STL), and on TV they are superimposing an image that makes it look like there's a huge advertisement in the center field grassy patch between the bleachers. Which there absolutely is not. Also, Utz brand isn't even sold here, lol

Someone in STL tweeted this:

@bschaeffer12

What in the unholy hell is this

[link to twitter.com (secure)]

@bschaeffer12

"Fowler makes the play, reaches up to grab some cheese balls, and we're heading to the bottom of the third here in St. Louis."

chuckle

ETA:

@KathrineB

I'm not a Cardinals fan, but I AM a fan of baseball parks. And the Utz ad superimposed on the batter's eye grass is an abomination.
