After in the parking lot, people were dancing on top of their cars. ..that was enough for my career in rock music appreciation.. It's not for everyone. I for one LOVE the live music experience. I have been to so many concerts you wouldn't believe it. Even saw Meatloaf once when I was in college! I'm lucky that I have managed to see most of the artists I would want to, and then some. Minus those few concert regrets that I can't let go of. I don't go to nearly as many shows as I used to, but I don't always feel the need since I've seen so many bands - a lot of them multiple times. There are still bands that I will see every time they come through town, no matter what. There's something very moving about hearing/seeing live music. It affects me. I think I've mentioned that I can't go to the symphony without crying. I don't do that at a rock show, but I will lose myself in the music and it's a nice release. I also like how live shows connect people, even if just for that short period. |

You know what I'm talking about Mr. S! One upside of your situation though is that you might still have a chance! I struggle with the Beastie Boys one on a semi-regular basis. Every time I think of it I get sick to my stomach. I am a HUGE Beastie Boys fan, from day 1 in 1986 until their last album in 2011. They put out a really good instrumental album in their later years ( [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] They did a tour for that album, first in a while, and as usual there weren't a ton of dates. I considered going to see them on one of their dates in L.A. One of my BFFs lives there and I preferred to go to with someone who loved them as much as I do. It was on a Wednesday so I was looking at a very quick trip because I didn't have much vacation time. At the time I recall I was also reluctant to spend the money. The flight and the concert ticket altogether weren't cheap and finances were a lot tighter at the time. I debated about it for a few days until I had to make a decision, and I begrudgingly talked myself into being responsible and not spending the money. I remember calling my friend to tell him, and saying "I have a feeling I might end up regretting this". This was 2007. MCA was diagnosed with cancer just a year or two later. They did only a couple of random shows in '09 and then never played again due to MCA being sick. And of course, MCA died in 2012, and my dream of seeing them died with him. He was my favorite of the 3, too. If I could kick my own ass, I would. Do me a favor, go see The Who! They are touring this year. Not many US dates, but perhaps the Kentucky show might be an option? They also might add more dates as time goes on. Save this link and keep an eye on it. [link to www.thewho.com (secure)] Last Edited by KickinIt on 01/25/2020 12:43 PM |
