Arnie User ID: 78321524 United States 03/18/2020 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Anyone else having moments where they have to squish the complete "freak out" down? Am I alone in this feeling of complete dread?? Quoting: WhiteAngel Yeah, at times. I often have to think of silver linings to share with nef and mini, when they freak out, so that helps me as well. The tension is rising in this house. It's especially bad at night. I'm being both as fair/realistic and as strict as can be with mini lately, but man she is defiant. The nightly arguments have left me with a constant throbbing headache. I'm still sick from almost 2 weeks ago, so I also don't have the energy for her shit. Ugh. I totally understand. The melt downs for Pandy are getting worse also, which in turns puts stress on the rest of us. Like there isn't enough with the Virus and the Markets all causing their own stressful factors. Best I can do for you is a Back atcha my friend! Just imagine what life will be like some day in the bunkers,,,omg, with teenagers who perhaps cannot use their phones,,,people will be climbing back out saying the apocalypse is better. !!! [link to www.imperial.ac.uk (secure)] Thread: TERRIFYING!! Why Trump flipped on this virus! This explains it all! I'm technically still on vacation right now, but it was decided today to close my office effective tomorrow until at least 4/1, at which point things will be reassessed. So, now I'll be working from home and doing some things over the phone vs. in person. We had to cancel a big event we had coming up next month too, which is a bummer. Since I had already taken these first few days of the week off, now I need to go into the office tomorrow to get my laptop and some other stuff I'll need! Overall, people are really making an effort here to isolate. I read some tweet yesterday that during the Spanish flu STL was really good about social isolating whereas Philly was not, and the difference in deaths was significantly lower in STL as a result. Here's an article about it, and about social isolating in general. This chart of the 1918 Spanish flu shows why social distancing works In 1918, the city of Philadelphia threw a parade that killed thousands of people. Ignoring warnings of influenza among soldiers preparing for World War I, the march to support the war effort drew 200,000 people who crammed together to watch the procession. Three days later, every bed in Philadelphia’s 31 hospitals was filled with sick and dying patients, infected by the Spanish flu. By the end of the week, more than 4,500 were dead in an outbreak that would claim as many as 100 million people worldwide. A different story played out in St. Louis, just 900 miles away. Within two days of detecting its first cases among civilians, the city closed schools, playgrounds, libraries, courtrooms, and even churches. Work shifts were staggered and streetcar ridership was strictly limited. Public gatherings of more than 20 people were banned. The extreme measures—now known as social distancing, which is being called for by global health agencies to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus—kept per capita flu-related deaths in St. Louis to less than half of those in Philadelphia, according to a 2007 paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Not good! Evening Big D! That's a great reminder, especially first thing in the morning. Start off with the armor and trust that "No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling." “And he brought them out and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' So they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" Acts 16:30-31 |
