Nigeria Has Chloroquine Poisonings After Trump Praised Drug

Nigeria reported two cases of chloroquine poisoning after U.S. President Donald Trump praised the anti-malaria drug as a treatment for the novel coronavirus.

Health officials are warning Nigerians against self-medicating after demand for the drug surged in Lagos, a city that’s home to 20 million people. Two people were hospitalized in Lagos for chloroquine overdoses, Oreoluwa Finnih, senior health assistant to the governor of Lagos, said in an interview.

“Please don’t panic,” she said via text message. “Chloroquine is still in a testing phase in combination with other medication and not yet verified as a preventive treatment or curative option.”

Nigeria’s Centre for Disease Control warned that the World Health Organization hasn’t approved use of the drug against the virus. Africa’s most populous country reported 22 infections as of Saturday.

But.. at least I got my toilet paper this morning, even though I had to run for it. Was at the grocery store at opening at 9 am and there were already at least 50 people waiting.

A line a mile wide because of social distancing. If I would have taken the distance literally, I could have waited on my own toilet in line. That's how close I live to the supermarket.

I also had a plan in case they were out again..

I've been doing self-quarantine for 3.5 weeks or more. Haven't had out to eat once in that time.

When this whole thing is over (assuming the restaurants still exist), I plan on grabbing a nice big juicy steak and shrimp dinner at Sizzler.

And House Special Beef at Pickup Stix.

And a fish taco dinner at Rubio's with keto-style tortillas.

It could've easily been that one if that had been mentioned first.
