Part of the problem is that a huge percentage of people are not working right now or working from home, so everyone is home all day, every day. This means all of us are going through more toilet paper, paper towels, eggs, milk, and all the other products that are hard to find. Combine that with manufacturers having to somehow replenish what was frantically bought, but also try to increase the amount they are making in order to meet the current demand. They just can't seem to catch up.
