Mini and I are gonna go on an adventure! A local adventure lol, aka a drive. We have no actual destination, but we're bored so we might take a ride to Boston and check things out (from the inside of my car haha).

Goodie bag is packed. Rolled a couple, made some sammiches and threw in a couple waters. Also packed the camera, just in case!

Here's the problem with not wearing a mask right now. Not wearing a mask is dangerous. It is also a slap in the face to everyone who has been doing their part in staying at home indoors for the better part of two months and the millions of dead around the world.

This should never be a political issue, though. Everyone should do their part in this. Because of a few people's refusals to follow the rules for no reason than to dab a few grey hairs with some dye, we're going to have a devastating second wave of coronavirus when it hits.

The virus is not gone just because Trump says so, it's a political inconvenience to him, and because he refuses to listen to his experts. Not just his experts - any experts. They don't work that way. We are far from a safe environment to stop social distancing and easing these measures. Everyone gets the virus - it's not just old people. We should be doing this for another month to eliminate the virus and save more lives. Deaths due to this virus are unacceptable.

And the mask is a temporary inconvenience. The myopic shortsightedness of some is just unbelievable to me.

I don't have the luxury of throwing social distancing to the wind living with my close to 65 and high-risk mother. But you know what? Quite frankly, wearing a mask does not bother me in the least. I'll gladly do it to save lives and lower the risk to her significantly when necessary. Masks should never be such an emotionally charged issue.

Ok. We have to wear a mask. Get over it. It takes 2 seconds to put on. And 2 seconds to remove. That so many people are so against saving lives by not wearing masks is unbelievable to me also. That they can't spend those extra 4 seconds out of their day to help someone else for the short time they go out is astounding to me.

I'd rather wear the mask than get thousands of holes punctured in my lungs or be on a ventilator with a lifetime of damage. The temporary inconvenience far outweighs the risk. And it's not even an inconvenience at all. Wearing a mask? So what. It's not a big deal.

I get it...people are out of work and they want to go back to work. But, it's not going to be an instant recovery. We're not going to wake up tomorrow and be back to normal because Trump says so.

Life doesn't work that way.

And the second wave will be deva...stat...ing.

I totally agree, CS. Hubby and I always mask-up if we have to go out. We've gotten some pretty weird looks from folks who didn't wear one. Doesn't bother me.
I'm 70 and hubby will be 80 in 2 weeks. And we have custody of a 2 yr old child. I'm not about to take chances when we go out.

Son-in-law doesn't really grasp how bad this virus is. I've tried to talk to him, but he's bought into the media saying it's not as bad as expected and the political games over it are enforcing his opinion. He drives an 18 wheeler delivering fuel to convenience stores. He doesn't have anyone in the truck with him, he doesn't have to go in the stores (and doesn't), and because he has to put out cones to keep vehicles away from his truck, he's never closer than 20' to anyone - and always outside. He doesn't feel the need to wear a mask for his job, and isn't required by his company to do so.

I also worry about a bad second wave - in fact, I've topped off my inventory to keep from having to make any store runs. And I have a huge garden to make sure I can use my FoodSaver or my pressure canner to add to the food supply. I agree, that this fall may see a horrible wave of virus. Hope son-in-law doesn't learn how bad the virus is the hard way.

We ended up driving to Boston. Not much excitement. Some areas were pretty empty, but others had lots of people. Lots of masks in Boston. It's been a beautiful day so people were out and about on foot. One of the pics in the link below looks like a ghost town. Considering the time of day that we drove in, it was a ghost town. No traffic at all in Boston or driving back home.

I never got to use my camera as I was the driver lol. I was able to grab some phone pics though. :)

Lynn reported 20 new cases on Monday, which, when factoring in those who have recovered and died, brings the city’s caseload to 3,035.

As of last Wednesday, Lynn has the fourth highest number of cases in the state and the third highest infection rate, according to the state Department of Public Health.
