Simple27 (OP) User ID: 40488826 United States 06/06/2020 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | SIGNS OF LIFE FROM SOLAR CYCLE 25: This weekend, the biggest sunspot of new Solar Cycle 25 (so far) is turning toward Earth. AR2765 is inset in this magnetic map of the sun’s surface from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory: [link to spaceweather.com (secure)] We know AR2567 is a member of Solar Cycle 25 because of its magnetic polarity. According to Hale's Law, sunspots switch polarities from one solar cycle to the next. Southern sunspots from old Solar Cycle 24 have a -/+ polarity. This sunspot is the opposite: +/-, marking it as a member of Solar Cycle 25. The primary dark core of AR2765 is about as wide as Earth, with two satellite sunspots closer in size to the Moon. A frothy wake of magnetic turbulence stretches 70,000 miles behind the trio. These dimensions make the sunspot group an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. The sun is still in the pits of a century-class Solar Minimum. The appearance of AR2765 suggests that it won't last forever. Solar Cycle 25 has been showing signs of life all year long, with 82% of all sunspots in 2020 having the magnetic polarity of the new cycle. What's next? Solar flares? Simple27 (OP) User ID: 40488826 United States 06/06/2020 04:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | DAYTIME METEOR SHOWER: This weekend, step outside under the bright blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun overhead. Would you believe, there's a meteor shower underway? Earth is passing through a stream of debris from an unknown comet, source of the annual Arietid meteor shower. It is active during broad daylight. As many as 60 meteors per hour are streaking from a radiant right beside the glaring sun. The peak of this invisible (yet real) meteor shower is June 7th. KickinIt User ID: 74785546 United States 06/06/2020 04:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I SEE VERY LITTLE TIDAL ACTION TO PUMP UP THE QUAKE ACTION. Quoting: UH 79000829 WE GOT ONE LOW TIDE COMING BUT, IT'S NOT EXTREME ENOUGH. Might not need the tides. We've got oarfish, full moon, planetary alignments, TEC doom, an active-ish sunspot... It also seems like the overall # of quakes has been low today. There have been solid moderate quakes but when it gets a bit quiet like this, especially with all the factors mentioned above, it makes me a little worried. |

I actually remember watching one of his first videos and he said that was what he was going to do. I love storms so much. Not the part when they hurt people and their homes though. Same! We're so deprived of really cool storms here. I get all excited over a few flashes of lightning lol. We don't get enough lightning. We've had a good amount of rain throughout all of spring, but no big storms at all. That's unusual, especially this late into the year as it gets much warmer and more humid. We have had a few minor thunderstorms and some crazy winds a few times, but that's it. There have been multiple times heavy storms w/big hail and the works were coming straight at us, but they completely evaporated before they got this far. That happens a lot. Around here many call it the "Arch effect", but it's really due to the convergence of three rivers down by the Arch. There really was a question there for a while if that big steel arch could alter our weather though. |

Drove up from Albuquerque. So happy to see him as it has been two years. I half raised him and for the long absences it is hard on his second mama. Hoping his visit helps my daughter out a little.
