Vego, I'm sorry to hear you can't go home for Xmas. A safe decision, but disappointing nonetheless.

Simple, numbers skyrocketing here as well. No regression on the restrictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are coming. Right now we still have restrictions on occupancy of restaurants, bars, etc, and hours are limited to I think 11pm. I also have thought about how the holidays will be. Thanksgiving for me shouldn't change, because I've always done that with my best friend. Sometimes we have a few other guests join us, but my hope is that this year it will just be the 2 of us and we can do our usual and not worry about it. Xmas, however, usually involves a larger gathering on Xmas eve, and I don't see how that can happen safely at this point assuming the numbers are still high.

I think we all just have to keep reminding ourselves this is not going to last forever. We will have normal holidays in the future. At least we have the technology to connect w/our loved ones in other ways, via zoom or whatever. It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. In your case simple, hopefully you can see your family over the holidays, but just not in one big group.

As far as Mini's senior year being ruined, I wish that were not the case. My godson graduated from high school last year and got robbed as well. And he's still getting robbed this first year of college when he should be enjoying football games, tailgates, and frat parties. My niece is in grad school in CA and they have already announced the rest of the year will be online, and she is due to graduate in may and believes she will be robbed of that. It's these losses that make me sad, because these are the memories you can't get back or do at another time.

I think, depending on the election, we in America will have about 3 to 3 1/2 more years before things turn very bad and that includes world wide. Take this time to prepare both physically as well as spiritually.

Love ya WA, but it seems safe to say things are already very bad, and likely about to get worse quickly, regardless of this election outcome. Your husband hasn't been able to find a decent F/T job for how long now? That's been a problem since before this pandemic for many people, and it's only worse now with covid. The economy is headed to the toilet. Our national debt has skyrocketed and states are running out of money. People are disturbingly obsessed with politics and making everything a political argument even when politics have nothing to do with it. Everyone seems to have tunnel vision that their beliefs or opinions are "good" and all others are "bad". As a result, there is no willingness to have conversations or try to find a common ground about anything anymore. Many have lost the ability to think objectively at all. People hate each other solely because of differences such as skin color or religion or political stance. Yeah, things can always get worse and I think they will, but it appears things are already pretty damn shitty. The shittiest they've been in my lifetime, anyway.
