Hey everyone! Quick post now, will catch up reading later. It's been a crazy week so far. Water to the house froze, so no running water since Sunday afternoon. It was 7 degrees at the time. Got down to -2 that night. We have heavy ice covered with snow on all the trees. got at least an inch of ice and about 5 inches of snow. Power has been out more than on since Monday. Got down into the 40's in the house a couple of times. My cookstove is gas, so I'm able to keep burners going, and heat water to warm the air. I covered windows and separated off the kitchen & den from the rest of the house to minimize the area to warm. We've used the fireplace, but it's not built well and doesn't project heat into the room as well as it should. But we're better off than lots of folks across the state.

The power situation is going to be a huge political problem in the state as more info comes out about why our grid failed. Our state leaders truly screwed us when they converted 70% of our power generation to solar and wind. In this weather, the solar panels are covered with snow and don't function. And the windmills literally got covered in ice and quit turning - lots of them actually broke. At the rate this is going, I wouldn't be surprised to see lynch parties headed to Austin. Especially as deaths start being reported.

Can honestly say that this has been quite a test of my preps. Did really well on some, failed on others. Have a long list of things we need to do, and a few items to buy. Just hope we don't have a repeat of this kind of weather catastrophe again in my lifetime! And unfortunately, we have another weather system coming though by tomorrow with up to 3" of snow possible. On top of what's still on the ground. It won't get above freezing til Saturday.

Enough for now. Hope all of you stay safe & warm. Will catch up as I can, as long as the power stays on.

Peace, hugs & love from W TX
