Seeing that kitty reminded me, when I was coming home tonight from the calving yard, I spotted a pair of geese, perched on top of an old Cottonwood snag that is still standing! Turned out ok, the sunshine in the background! Last couple of days we have gained 5 pairs or so of geese, that will nest here! Spring is coming! deplorably republican |

Lucky geese! :) They are pretty funny birds! They walk around on the hayfields and in the trees along the creek. When I show up with the feed tractor, they will shuffle off but don't usually fly. The cows don't bother them and neither do we, so they aren't concerned! Man are they noisy! Hah! deplorably republican |
Simple27 (OP) User ID: 79420394 United States 03/02/2021 08:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't miss it! :) MARS AND THE PLEIADES: When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look up. Mars is approaching the Pleiades star cluster for a beautiful naked-eye conjunction. Heiko Ulbricht photographed the pair last night over Saxony, Germany: https://imgur.com/dgc9G2U "It was a beautiful sight--and a strange one, too," says Ulbricht. "Just to the left of Mars is Aldebaran, a red-giant star in Taurus. At the moment, Mars and Aldebaran have the same brightness (magnitude +0.9) and a nearly identical color. I thought I was seeing double!" See for yourself. The conjunction and Martian doppelganger are easy to find among the bright winter constellations of Orion, Gemini, and Taurus. March 3rd is the night of closest approach, when Mars and the Pleiades are only 2.6 degrees apart. They won't be this close again until 2038. The field across the street behind the school has a regular gathering of geese. Or ducks maybe? Lol. Either way, they are SO loud when they decide to take flight together. ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

But it is COLD out there right now. Feels like 14. So they say lol. I personally think it feels much colder! But really, go check out that Mars conjunction. So cool! We've had a lot of noteworthy astronomical events during our short time on this rock. I love it. :) ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Next week we have a couple of days in the 50's. That should feel nice. This conjunction is the closest they've been since January 1991. :) https://twitter.com/_/status/1366940102379847680 ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
