You know, the last few days I've been worried as to why the 2nd eagle egg hasn't started to hatch yet. Today there is an update from Big Bear Eagle Cam:

3/24/21 Update: We are sad to report, after egg 1 began to hatch, it appears that sometime during the day on 3/19 the eaglet passed away. The remaining egg is now 40 days old and will be 41 later this evening. Though we are still in the window of possibility for hatching, with each passing day it is less likely. We will continue to observe, but sadly we believe by Friday that window will close. We do not and cannot know why any of this happens. It is nature, operating in its own way, without explanation.
