Oh wow! Glad it didn't directly get you, or one of your dogs. That smell is SO potent! It hurts to even smell it once it's in the house. I hope ventilating your home doesn't mean windows opened during that extreme heat coming up. :\

Oh man, I've heard/read nightmare stories about getting sprayed with a skunk. Which thankfully didn't happen to you, but you merely stepped in it and it smelled up your whole house! It's crazy how potent those things are. I guess the upside is that it could've been much worse if you would've been sprayed. I hope you can air the place out quickly. Light a lot of candles and get some plug-ins for your outlets if you don't already use them.

True story: When I was a little kid, I'm talking maybe 5, I was at my neighbor friend's house playing and at one point we were looking at a sesame street scratch n sniff book she had. On one of the pages about Oscar the grouch there was a skunk milling around his trash can, which they had a scratch and sniff for. Why they chose a skunk smell for a child's book is beyond me, but they did and I smelled it and within less than 10 seconds I vomited. I could not stop vomiting because the smell was imprinted in my brain so I had to go home. To this day I have zero tolerance for the odor of a skunk. Can't handle it at all. Clearly that was a traumatizing moment for me, lol.

It is so strong that you get instantly sick over the smell.

When I was 12 or 13 years old I was sleeping over a friend's house and her dog got sprayed. When it came back inside it was the most horrific thing I have ever smelled! It doesn't smell like a skunk once it's sprayed on something. It's like an unbelievably strong chemical smell. We ran upstairs into her bedroom, closed the door and were still coughing and gagging over it. It was AWFUL!

I think the smell is so bad that it traumatizes everyone who has had a personal encounter with it! I don't know how you're managing, John. Even if it was faint, I couldn't stay there.

Those are great trucks! Toyota Tacoma. We have an FJ Cruiser, a 2012 we bought used for 31,500. My wife is small and doesn't see well out of it and the blind spot is big, so, with 2 payments left, we are thinking about trading it. It has 100,000 miles, and I checked with Kelly Blue book, and they quoted 26,700, to 29,600! I never owned a vehicle that depreciated so little!!!

My sales guy told me today that the Tacoma hardly ever loses value. It's almost as costly to buy a used one than to lease a brand new one. We're going for the lease. He really needs it. He's been having a lot of troubles with his beast of an old truck. We're lucky it survived this long, but it's making itself more noticeable now that it won't last much longer. It's just become dangerous to drive. So...safety first!
