I went in for a little bit to get a few things done, but I'm gonna finish the day from home. I don't feel great today.


How do you feel now? Almost keeled over myself. My shingles virus activated today. Ice pick stabbing pain in right knee. Vitamins, valtrex, magnesium, gallon of water and three hours sitting still and I started coming around. These viruses are potent and unusual in that they get activated and cause sub clinical sequelae.

I get sick / yukk from the fireworks air, all the crap in the air. Headaches / tired. Also there is a classic car parade, multi-day, around here, and the air fills with exhaust from the old cars...same..get headaches and feel like shit.
Maybe this is the culprit for you both; anyway, prayers gone up.

Highest Volcanic SO2 Gas Emission Ever Recorded - VEI 4-6

Taal volcano (Luzon Island, Philippines) activity update: highest SO2 emissions level ever recorded yesterday.

The local observatory PHIVOLCS recorded 22628 tonnes/day! of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions yesterday, the highest level recorded in Taal volcano ever.

The seismic instrument detected 26 strong low-frequency (LF) earthquakes as volcanic gases reaching the shallow hydrothermal system that feeds into the lake accompanied by degassing. The earthquakes were felt at the northeastern shorelines of Volcano Island.

That could very well be! It was quite smoky around my house on the 4th. I didn't think of that, but it makes sense.

FARSIDE SOLAR ACTIVITY: On July 3rd, sunspot AR2838 unleashed the first X-flare of Solar Cycle 25. Hours later, the sunspot disappeared--but it hasn't stopped flaring. Two CMEs just flew away from the farside of the sun where AR2838 is now located (stay tuned for movies). If it holds together long enough, the sunspot will return to the Earthside in less than 2 weeks.

Hate to say it, but I just don't buy the explanation! That doesn't even look like a regular volcanic explosion, much less from a mud volcano. May just be me...

Hey all - just a quick check-in. Got caught up reading. Hope you & Isis both get to feeling better soon!!

We've had a decent trip, but seems all I've done is cook, clean and nurse Baby S. She got sick & started running fever the first night here. The first 2 nights I got hardly any sleep tending to her. Thank goodness she only has a runny nose now, and has been fever-free after the 2nd night.

Went to the Cuchara parade for the 4th with my crew (hubby, Baby S, 2 grandsons and one friend), and my sister and some of her family. The parade was very "home-grown" but wonderful, the crowd was the biggest they've ever had, and the band that played afterwards was AWESOME! Would love to go to another concert by them! That night, we drove to Walsenberg for a fireworks show over the lake. Pretty impressive also, and a huge crowd there, with most people either spread out in groups along the lake shore or sitting in their vehicles. It was a good 4th of July!

Gotta go - we have a washing machine crisis and some errands to run. But nothing major, thank goodness.
