Got an email from our cable provider today about the upcoming FEMA/FCC test of Emergency Alert System. Tried to copy/paste it but screwed it up. Need joinca tutoring me!!! lol
Anyway,
Says the alert SOUND will last 5 MINUTES, then the actual alert will start and tv programs will be interrupted. It ended by advising that when the alert is over, some TVs will have to be turned off/rebooted to return to normal broadcasting,
WTF???
Never had the test of the EAS sound for FIVE MINUTES, nor did it require rebooting my tv!!! WTF is this new system????

Test messages will be sent to TVs and radios, along with select cell phones that have opted-in to receive test messages." For those who haven't opted out, it's usually under notification settings under "Wireless Emergency Alerts" or something similar. One of the fields should be something like "State and Local Tests." Make sure that's turned off. I'm not worried about it, but I hate random test alerts anyway so I always have it turned off. In notifications you can turn off all emergency alerts too, but it depends on the provider. Mine uses stock android so all of the alerts are separated into their own permissions.
