I can honestly say that having my own business was the best thing I've ever done! It comes with it's own unique issues, but they aren't anything like what we've put up with out in the workforce!!! If you can at all make the move, go for it!! There's a sense of satisfaction from working for yourself that you can't get any other way!

Here's one for ya - true story. Will try to keep it brief.
My next-to-last outside job was for a commercial construction company. I was the bookkeeper/office manager/administrative assistant. Was shooting for working there until I could retire. Boss was an _ss. But good money and little to no overtime. One day he & I had a conversation and he asked about my mom. He knew she was having health issues, and that she had quite a bit of money. He asked me, I thought hypothetically, what I intended to do when my mom passed away and I inherited money. Did I intend to quit? I said probably, but wasn't anticipating having my mom pass any time soon. That was on a Friday. On Monday, he stopped at my office door and when I inquired how things were going, he said "Great! I lucked out and found your replacement!" And he was serious - she started work the next week!!! I couldn't file on him because he offered to keep me on for several months so I could train the new gal and help with the computer software conversion we were doing. It's taken me a long time to get over my anger. Yeah, working for other people sucks.

Geez, what a terrible story! I appreciate the encouragement. There is bad with the good, and that is a concern, but I just have to keep reminding myself of the good. And the FREEDOM.

Love ya Granny hugs

Granny… I have a few of those stories. The best one happened during TARP, and I ended up with $500 a week UI and only $135 in medical insurance out of pocket per month.

Humans suck.

Well, most of them. Especially the ones who make it into high management positions, it seems. Even hubby has his own story like this, but it turned out ok. He ended up coming to work for my parents which led to starting his own business. So, some things do work out ok.

Hope you're feeling better, CC, but seeing how the Canary Island thing is going, I'd bet your symptoms are non-stop. Prayers up & take care of yourself!
